It's been the Palestinian's "own" city for 1,400 years. By what right does Israel "own" Nablus?

I recognize Israel's right to exist (at least within the pre-1967 borders). What happened in 1947-48 is too far gone to undo. Some Palestinians need to realize this and get practical.
