I was watching Shep Smith broadcast this morning from down there on some roof top ... the wind was blowing .. you couldn't hear a thing he said
And I'm thinking .. Dude, get inside .. lol
Glad to hear it wasn't as bad as what was expected and yes that no lives were lost

As thankful as I am you and yours were spared, I'm still going to pray for those that may not be quite as fortunate.
A couple hours without power and some downed limbs are livable conditions!!!!
HURRAH YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

i volunteered with Pete-R-Bilt to load army tents on trucks up here in utah, after the big one hit Homestead a few years ago.
i'm thankful this turned out as it did and you're okay... it could have been so much worse.
the lili thread was also interesting to follow over the last couple days.

Yes, the howling wind was sumtin else. It is amazing to watch trees literally bend in the wind. This afternoon I found branches from a really tall pine tree on one side of my house strewn along the driveway on the opposite side of the house. I always wonder if newsmen like Shep get hazardous duty pay. LOL I'm grateful they're willing to do it but I sure wouldn't.

Yes, lets remember to keep praying for all those who'll have to struggle with this for months to come.

I'm sure he does .. can't understand any other reason why a person would drive down to be in the eye of a huricane

I caught some of Shep this morning and could only remember when Gloria hit the east coast, particularly the DelMarVa Penninsula.
I had called the local radio station, where I used to work, volunteering to help out with information as an extra set of eyes and ears. To this day I will not forget the refusal I got "we don't need amateurs." I realize that 4 years of on air coverage of stuff on the penninsula did not make an icon - but the little b!tch who didn't want amatuers had been at the radio station less than 2 months.
When I spoke with the News Director ( aformer colleague) several days later he questioned why I hadn't called him - I related the above. She was gone with inside of a week.

Thank you. It always warms my heart to hear about the "army" of volunteers all around the country who help out when there is a devastating storm or accident. So many people in the Homestead area lived in those tents for months. They were a blessing.
Yes, I thought the Lili threads were interesting and helpful. At its best, the internet is a wonderful source of information and support at times like that.

LOL .. hope she never made that kind of mistake again .. otherwise she's pretty dumb
See this is why I like Pennsylvania .. we get a little of everything but not to much
I have one sister that lives in AZ and she always tells me about the HUGE bugs out that way .. I don't do bugs .. LOL
Besides I don't do heat very well either
Once she (my sister) tried to see 1f she could really fry an egg on her car .. it worked .. but it also destroyed the paint ..
And yes .. she is a blonde .. LOL

All last night and today the local TV and radio stations were asking viewers and listeners to call with information from their area. They kept saying, we can't be everywhere, we need all of you to be our eyes and ears.
Fortunately, I had a good stockpile of batteries on hand and could listen to the radio today. I had been thinking about getting one of those solar powered radios for emergencies but it woldn't have worked today... no sunshine. LOL
