"George W is closer to my fathers ideology than he is to his fathers, said Michael" Interesting, I've been saying this for over a year now.
Thanks much for all the pings, love your articles!

This extremely well written article moved me to tears. Reagan's place in history and in heaven is secure. Every Republican since has tried and will try to live up to his stature, both public and private, but Ronald Reagan will always top the list.
As Maureen was quoted by Nancy as saying, "his soul doesnt have Alzheimers."
I praise God for the hope that is ours in trials such as these through His Son Jesus Christ
and through the Holy Spirit who empowers us to overcome this present darkness.
When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!

Thank you for posting this. I'll always love this man. He fearlessly did what was right with minimal tweaking around the edges. He and Margaret Thatcher were brave, even heroic, leaders. Ronald Reagan has extraordinary class, even in his "long goodbye."

It sounds as though it will be a blessing in some ways.By the time my youngest son died in several years ago of adrenoleukodystrophy, we had watched him physically deteriorate for seven years, since the onset of his seizures at 14.
My wife described it best: "A sad relief."

Ivan, I am an American woman and as such I could never understand how many people in the UK could through the centuries could love their kings and queens, people they had never met. But when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated, I understood. I love that old man and I'm going to cry when he dies.

It's been suggested to me that I post the photo that I mentioned in my first post on this thread:

Thanks for posting this very poignant article. Reagan was our country's salvation. Here is one of his quotes:
"Whatever else history may say about me when I'm gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty's lamp guiding your steps and opportunity's arm steadying your way."
Address to the Republican National Convention,
Houston, Texas, August 17, 1992
He will be remembered for all that and more.

I am appreciative that the admin moderator is right here to delete the rude comments that thankfully, were gone before I got here. Prayers to the Reagan family.

I remember from a very long time ago, that someone here assembled portions of Reagan's speeches together, with only a few additional quotes, to make a "speech" which was a damning indictment of Bill Clinton. I wish someone knew where to find it, it was terrific.

Well it's just a souvenir from DC. Had it been really President Reagan, THEN it would have been a tremendous keepsake. ;)

Thanks for the article. The fact that we've been seeing more of these stories indicates to me that Reagan will soon be leaving us. However, there is one point that hasn't been raised that I hope that all freepers will take into account when the inevitable does occur:
When Reagan does finally pass away, we can fully expect to hear some of the most hateful, spiteful and evil bile about the man to come from the far left and liberals. I fully expect to see people like Susan Estirich and her ilk fill the airwave with the same lies, hate and vile crap that some of us haven't heard since our collage days in the early '80's.
Mark my words...they will not be able to pass up the chance to do this one last time. It is in their nature.

Susan Estrich has a voice that could scrape the paint off a battleship. To hell with her. Uncle Ron deserves far better than to have "eulogies" provided by her and Eleanor Clift.

I know, but even standing next to a cardboard cutout of the Great One is special. ;-)

It means that you have been asleep for the past 20 years. Are you still longing for a wide awake Carter to bring economic stability to America?
To: patriciaruth
I have studied neurology because of a sleep disorder and the brain keeps the heart ticking. Down here with our liberal newspaper, we don't exactly get updates on President Reagan. I appreciate someone posting this.
My mom met Ronald Reagan and Frank Reynolds, ABC, at a campaign stop in Clearwater, FL. She has Frank Reynolds' autograph. All mom could talk about upon meeting Candidate Reagan was his rosy complexion and lovely wave in his hair.
To: MadIvan
I agree. But, we WILL hear them. Their hate for the man will outweight any decorum that they might still have. They will be brutal, count on it.
