I'm going to have to chew on this one for awhile. In effect, we are proposing the partition of Iraq into three separate countries. The part about uniting Baghdad with Amman is just camoflage. It probably wouldn't happen. Baghdad will not want to be subservient to Amman. Maybe the combined government would be headquartered in Baghdad, and Jordan would in effect become Baghdad's colony.

Kurdistan becomes a US protectorate, as does, in effect, Basra.

Kurdistan gets oil, and defacto independence, despite what we told the Turks. Basra isn't going to accept rule from Kuwait, so it would likewise get oil and independence. Baghdad would retain some oil, and if united with Jordan, Baghdad's influence would reach all the way into the west bank. Its natural secular culture would be reinforced by Amman's similarly secular culture.

I am interested in the independent Kurdistan this would create. We promised we wouldn't do this, and we would have to come up with some kind of legal fiction to hide the obvious. Certainly Kurdistan has been through hell over the last eighty years. They could use a break.

Our presence there would keep either Baghdad or the Turks from pushing into the area. We could also help assure that Turkey's Kurds don't use the region as a base. Or maybe we would make it a joint Turkish American protectorate.

I'm trying to get my mind around this idea. Give me a couple of days. I didn't quite see this one coming.

I have no problem if they hate us.

Just as long as they are afraid of what we will do if they cross us.

Exactly right. Abdullah's mother was not American. A stupid statement that undermines the whole piece.

Leviticus 24:11
And the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD and cursed; and so they brought him to Moses. (His mother's name was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)...

Genesis 49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, A viper by the path, That bites the *horse's heels So that its rider shall fall backward.

Didn't the parents meet on a movie set?
