Torricelli's lawyers argued that the immediate release would rob him of the right to adequately prepare for an appeal.

Oh, reaaaaalllllly. How might a public release keep them from preparing their appeal? Torch seems to be intimating that the appellate judges would be swayed by the inevitable publicity. Good move: insult the judges.

Wouldn't have anything to do with his own campaign, would it?

The man has always been a turd in search of a punchbowl. Now it seems that the punchbowl he's found is his own.

Question can the Torch appeal this ???

I'm not positive, but I don't see how. The Supreme Court isn't in session.

"Immediate" in legal terms is different than when my wife uses the term.

If so, she ought to be excused from this for conflict of interest.

I'll bet the Torch was really enjoying it when the dems attempted to ruin then-Governor Bush during the GOP primaries with the DUI tactic.

He just better put some ice on this one.

This is all so stupid! Chang would not be in jail if he did not give illegal gifts to the Torch. Therefore, the Torch took them. Release that damn thing, already! Little tommy daschle must be having a nightmare right about now. Hehehehe...

I hope that Daschle runs for POTUS in '04.

The pictures of him supporting Torricelli are worth $millions.

Am I the only one who hears a falling shoe?

A set up of the "Clinton-Blew-A-Gasket-During-His-Deposition" type.

If Torricelli knew that the papers are basically a rehashing of the same-old, same-old, he can play their release as being old news, which is the next best thing to exhoneration to a 'Rat. "They really weren't as bad as everybody said they were, so I'm not really such a bad guy".

This just seems to be too convenient.

I hope I'm wrong.

To make Y'all feel better, I'm wrong a lot.

The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Record of Bergen County, WNBC-TV of New York and the American Broadcasting Cos. sought the release of the memo.

The RNC has been running a 30 second Ad that has no words all it does is show the headlines from these papers calling for the Torch to be defeated. It is the mose devistating ad I have ever seen. In the ad the Torch gets called a liar, thief crook, criminal, and unfit public offical, and every word is the word of a New Jersey area Newspaper editorial.

Did you ever notice when a Republican is going down in defeat, the press says "He is facing a Massive Defeat". When a Democratis going down in defeat, the press says "He is facing an extremely challenging race.".

In mediaese when a Democrat "faces a challenging race", he is toast.

Oh, but you don't understand how things work. The company I worked for was convicted of giving gifts to Clinton's Secretary of Agriculture Espy, but Espy was found innocent of accepting them. This is a typical democRAT play and how the legal system works for them.

The Torch is finished I hope!

I'll believe it when Forrester is sworn in.

I was surprised this summer when the 'rats sacrificed Traficant that they didn't also sacrifice the Torch. Since the Torch is a Senator, the 'rat governer could have named his replacement who would then be running as in incumbant 'rat it a 'rat leaning state. Another Daschle miscalculation.
