Egypt is typically considered part of the Middle East, and not of Africa, despite its actual placement on the map.

(similarly, Russia, which is 90% in Asia, is usually thought of as a European power.)

You're a strange kind of teacher. Egypt is not just typically in Africa, it has been in Afica a very long time. And on the point I was addressing, Islam spread across North Africa centuries ago, thus making Egypt only one contradiction in the story. So to say that Islam is new to Africa is not just a contradiction in the story, it is completely false.

(similarly, Russia, which is 90% in Asia, is usually thought of as a European power.) Submitted for extra credit: tell China, Japan, Viet Nam, some of the Stans, and the last 11 US administrations or so that Russia is primarilly considered a European power. Apparently you are not versed in history or contemporary world geopolitics.

Which public school is graced by your employement?

The inability to establish commonality between the middle eastern extractions in the south west, the Asians in the Southeast, the middle Europeans in the West, and the descendants of the Vikings in the Northwest was the reason the Soviet Union fall apart. The soviet Union was at least five different nations incompatible with each other.
