$71k is probably out of the question. Not unless you find a sugar daddy

I would chip in. It is feasible if we could get some people to help with larger bucks...Charleton Heston, James Woods, Mel Gibson come to mind. Of course then the ad would have to be re-written a bit.
How much did it cost when we ran that ad in the Washington Times?
To: AppyPappy
710 people, $100 each.
I'd do it.
To: TheBigB
Perhaps the NYT isn't the best medium for displaying the names. You could put up a counter ad that referenced a web site that listed the names of the contributors. Perhaps you could add the amount donated (to underscore that we don't have the big bucks celebrities do) and maybe have space for a comment or two.
I'd rather the ad get attention and send a message rather than identify the participants.

That's not a bad idea...

You might want to check with Jim to make sure he is ok with the Free Republic name being associated with the ad or not. Also, you might want to contact those on here who do radio free republic to let people know about the idea and possible fund raisers. Along with people on here, there is a chance (however slim) that conservative friendly media people (Hannity, Boortz, Drudge etc) might mention the fund raiser on their shows to help get money raised. It's worth a shot at least.

I seldom sign petitions, but this is one I'd want my name on.

I'd be willing, but not for $100.00. Wonder if Jim Robinson would allow some type of fundraiser on it?

Everyone please ping as many folks as you can. I have to get back to work, but I'd like to see how many would be interested.

You might want to check with Jim to make sure he is ok with the Free Republic name being associated with the ad or not.FR is probably OK with a generic ad supporting the President. I still think, if we do it, we ought to challange orher conservative sites and organizations to follow it up with their ad.

One other thought...do we really want to help the NYT make a profit? Perhaps another, more conservative-friendly paper might be more appropriate. Of course, there we'd be preaching to the choir...
To: TheBigB
You might want to think about calling the Wall Street Journal for pricing as well. It would be a shame to spend all that cash to support a rag like the Times.
(sorry to complicate the issue)

This site would be a central point for starting this fund raising..have you heard from Jim? Big or small donations..it all goes for the common cause..I have emailed some media talent we all know and admire on this story and the comments made by Freepers. Will be interested in seeing the outcome..I got my check book ready.Good Luck!
