I know this has been brought up before in other scandal cases, but when I viewed this news on MSNBC, CNN and CNBC I saw the "tearful" speech, but the indentification of him as the Gov. of Kentucky did not mention his political party affiliation, you know, (D) at all!
This always seems to happen, but never when there is an (R) behind the name.
Is it just me?

I was laughing through the whole speech!
Why would a younger babe want that old geezer?
It should be easy enough to back trace the investigation of her nursing home.
Like who instigated it.
The feds can get involved because of the Medicaid and Medicare $$$$$

You're right on target about Steve Henry. I checked his Lt. Gov. home page - beauty queen wife, new baby, I could write the press release now.
Wasn't there a scandal brewing about this guy and campaign money spent on his wife when they were 'dating'? Lost track of what happened, so I assume it just disappeared into the mist.

SLB: I once heard Terry Meiners make a comment about homeschooling. He said, "You know you REALLY have to watch those homeschooling families - they don't seem to know what they are doing."
Of course - I think now - one of his 14 siblings IS is homeschooling his children.
Terry Meiners is getting to me these past few years - I just can't stand to listen to him anymore.

I have a feeling that more women will come forward. I think this just may be the tip of the iceberg for Patton.
Also - last night on WAVE 3 news - there was an exclusive interview with someone who worked in KY state government - and more or less said that he was pressured to do some "jobs, etc." - that came from Patton's office.
Stay Tuned.
Thankfully - we live just across the river from Louisville - over in southern IN - so he's not my governor.

Notice that it didn't state his party affiliation by saying "Democratic Governor Patton" as it would have if he had been a Republican Yes, I noticed.....but didn't realize this until you pointed it how....you are correct, of course; for any Republican who did this, "Republican" would be the headline, then the name. Besides whan Ann Coulter would say in Slander how about the other, Bias?

I was a member of the Kentucky National Guard when Bereton Jones was running for governor. I remember being told at weekend drill that if you wanted to be assured of a "slot" you needed to contribute to his campaign. His AG, MG Dizarn (I mispelled both names I think) is now in prison for those actions, although it is one of the nicer federal facilities. Politics in the democratic party as normal.

Dirty laundry hanging in Kentucky. Patton should be ashamed to call himself a Democrat. He needs a lesson on how a Democrat governor is supposed to control the media first, and then run his personal foibles. Look at Governor Parris Glendenning who runs a
real Peoples Republic in Maryland with the media in tow:
He starts an affair with a low level state employee
has her promoted several times until she is his chief-of-staff or something, making big bucks
knocks her up
divorces his wife weeks before their 25th wedding anniversary (manages to keep the messy proceedings quiet)
marries his honey
and sets up a web site to collect baby shower gifts from those seeking political favors all without a wimper from the media. Gov Patton
put on your dunce cap and stand in the corner.

Patton, 65, a Democrat and chairman of the National Governors Association He was suppose to have beaten Bunning in 2004.... Now he's got the inside track for Dem Presidential nominee in 2004.

Isn't it interesting how the press has finally turned on Glenspending, now that he's about to leave office?
Actually, the Washington Post did run one story on the relationship between Glenspending and his then-staffer, months before he got his divorce. It turned out the Post had known about his relationship with the staffer months before they ran the story. But it was something that they ran at least that one story. I wonder why the Washington Times didn't get on his case.

Why is no one mentioning the Patton body count? Or the fact that, like Klintoon, he also used a state trooper to drive him to meet his hos?

Mike Weaver covered it up! He was told he would get necessary backing for a run for the house if he did. Where is he now? You got it!

I learn something new every day on FR. I wasn't aware of this.

"I have now apologized to the people of Kentucky and asked for your forgiveness," the married governor said. "I do believe that now I am on the right path."
The right path is the one which leads away from the public trust which he abused. I must have missed the part wherein he said he would resign.
To: Fred Mertz
Colonel Mike Weaver was the active duty advisor to the Kentucky National Guard at this time. His advice was well taken. Jones won and Weaver is in the house.

That would have been easier said than done. Patton's popularity was on the skids anyway over this budget mess. A hypothetical poll was taken showing Bunning with a huge lead last year.
Bunning is no pushover.

Well, I wouldn't say that he slept with 1/2 the women in Pike County, but one intimate, former high elected official whom he gave a posh government partronage job too in Pike County with her own little show comes to mind as one who hasn't kept her relationship with the Governor quiet. The press just needs to travel up to Pike County and point the mic in her face and ask the questions.
As far as Ernie Fletcher, I'll reserve judgment, because we have several Republicans running for office who could/would make excellent candidates.

Yes, this is a little late, but has everyone voted in the Courier Journal's
Poll on whether Governor Paul Patton should resign? The numbers are overwhelming for a C-J poll, which makes me wonder how long the results will stand up.

From the WHAS Newsroom....
(Frankfort, KY) -- The Executive Branch Ethics Commission will meet Friday morning to consider the accusations against Governor Patton. Meanwhile, a hint today that Tina Conner may have indeed benefited from a special business designation some state workers say they were pressured to grant her. The "Paducah Sun" newspaper reports S-T Construction, owned by Conner and her husband, did some work on the Barkley Regional Airport. It wasn't a state contract, but did hinge on the special designation.
