Canada has reduced its defense spending to just over one per cent of its gross domestic product, This is a great number to pull out the next time someone suggests we need to establish a national health care system like Canada's.
One of the reasons Canada can afford a national health care system is they are letting someone else (the United States) shoulder the burden of defending them.

Relax. The bashing is all in good fun. (I hope.) Don't take it seriously. Canada's a great country.

"Dieppe. Several battlions cut off from the beach were forced to surrender. Of course, any unit, except perhaps Sgt. Rock's Easy Company would have had to surrender under those circumstances." Yes. Dieppe. I got cheesed of at the surrender monkey comment (usually reserved for France) and spoke too soon. But as you said, almost any unit would have suffered the same fate.

"My 7th grade social studies teacher told me that Canada would be part of the US by the turn of the Millennium. Maybe his theory wasn't wrong, just pre-mature." It's probably inevitable, but not any time soon. Let's just hope our leaders can come up with a deal that citizens of both countries can live with.

"Relax. The bashing is all in good fun. (I hope.)" For the most part it's all in fun, but there are a couple of folks on this thread who are being quite serious. They know who they are.
I think I had too much coffee yesterday morning... :)

One marine should be more than enough to do the job.

been there tried that, when it comes to autos the same features cost the same. Priced new SUV's in canada vs US after figuring their 15% sales tax and all the bottom line numbers, it comes out the same and in some cases a few, (i do mean a few) dollars in the USA's favor.
