That's fine but the title is misleading to me. Exile is a form of punishment for individuals.

How much do those skeeter magnets run? I've been curious! How well do they work?
To: William Wallace
Your point? My point is "exile" is a misleading term. Fine, so they're defectors, that answers my question.

I don't think ditter and I took issue with the idea that they might use birds, we wondered why he would do that if the birds would then return to cuba eventually (or other birds similarly infected, since he has no way to control the spread once they release the birds). You provided a simple answer that we thought was shortsighted. Now, saying that he might have vaccinated his population makes more sense than assuming no infected birds would ever get back to cuba.... or that none of the birds would transmit it to the local insect/bird population before actually leaving the island.
To: Terriergal
Understood, TG. As the great Yankee sage Yogi Berra said, I made a wrong mistake. ;-)
I don't know what 'solution' Castro's scientists came up with to prevent the spread of the disease on the island. A vaccine is a possibility, but I doubt the lack of one would deter Castro. The answer may be as simple -- and chilling --as Castro hates the U.S. so much he doesn't care if his people get infected.
To: Terriergal
You are making the assumption that 1) these birds make a round trip, and 2) he cares about the people of Cuba.
To: Luis Gonzalez
Thanks for the ping, Luis.
Paging Jimmy Carter, the Congressional Black Caucus, Jesse Ventura, Hollywood....
You're either with us, or against us.

Is the proximity to Cuba the reason that Miami-Dade and Broward counties can't manage to vote?
To: patriciaruth
Is the proximity to Cuba the reason that Miami-Dade and Broward counties can't manage to vote? In Cuba, people vote and Castro decides who they vote for. In Dade county, when the machines are finally turned on and some people get to vote, the elections dept. counts backwards.

I have a question.....
all this yammering about going over to Iraq to 'see' if they have bio/nuke weapons...........doesn't all this time they are wasting give Iraq the opportunity to 'move/hide' these supposed weapons.........don't tell me that when we go over there to 'check it out', that we will go everywhere and see everything........there are places we won't go and places we don't know about........right? am i wrong? i just think this whole 'talking' about it for days and days is a bunch of crap crap crap.........

you know what it reminds me of.........that case with that guy who killed those two girls recently and did an interview with some sensationalistic tv show about how innocent he was........and the whole time they were a few feet away from one of the girls bodies (buried in a concrete slab)........
