This is NattieShea logged on as CO:

I'll read it more carefully tomorrow. It's touching that you care that much about this family. Did you go look for their family in Japan?

Bet you and Amy and Lori just have a blast on your Friday night FReeps.

We do! And, we missed you last Friday, lady. Amy, mtngrl and I had a wonderful confab over dinner that you would have enjoyed immensely, I'm sure.

Hope to see you next Friday and we'll pick up where we left off. ;-)

Hearing you three are a little under the weather, this handsome man gave a special wave of his hand to convey he hopes you will feel better soon ~ ~ ~

I almost missed this post from yesterday, LadyX. Thanks so much for passing on our President's get well wishes to those of us "under the weather". It was just the medicine I needed. :-)

Yes, Marian and I went to Japan.

The story of the Wakamatsu Tea and Silk colony is little know in the U.S.A. But it is a significant part of Japanese-American history. When I posted that page in 1999 I did a search and sent a couple of e-mails to Japan. The people in Aizu-Wakamatsu were very appreciative. This year the cultural center in Aizu wrote and performed a play depicting the story of Okie and the failed colony. Marian and I were HONORED GUESTS!!!! For three days we were IT. . . royalty . . . king and queen for a day . . . Woody Allen's 15 minutes of fame times 100!

Here's a research paper on the colony . . .
