20 hour days? That's a bit much, and it might explain some of the planks.

Sleep deprivation!

Yes indeed! LOL!

Sorry if I came off as jumping on YOU about this I had no such intent. Most folks have very little idea about these things and assume that they "just happen".

I am ALWAYS open to suggestions as to how we can make it work better for everyone!

EVEN those which come from...GULP...LAWYERS! ;>)

I certainly didn't take any offense, but one thing they do in law school is to genetically change thin skin into shark skin.

ROTFLOL! Okay - I admit it! I've been neglecting this!

It's just with so little time to spare, I have to use it carefully. On a side note I will say that I am disgusted with the current direction of the republican party here in Harris County - not in ideology but in leadership.

HC - our new chairman Jared Woodfill makes Thode look like a Lee Atwater in comparison and that is not an exaggeration. He's blown through the entirity of the money in the bank account when he took office. More recently he's stacked the county GOP staff with Blakemore flunkies who have screwed up practically everything. Add to that the fact that he's involved himself with the "endorsement list" prostitutes who were such an issue last primary and you get just a small glimpse at the problems.

In the meantime I've been working as much as I can to salvage our local campaigns this season with almost no help from the current chairman. It's all very frustrating to say the least, and add in the RINO problem, the downtown GHP business crowd influences, the whiny moderate faction, and all the rest to it...then the thing becomes one stinking mess. Hope y'all can turn up the GOTV efforts in FB and elsewhere because I will predict right now that our statewides should not be expecting an overly high performance out of Harris. Despite all that, I still look forward to november in hopes that we can pull this one off.

Yeah, and it was a riot when you said they were mindless college kids, too busy drinking and chasing girls.

Hey, gotta have time for fun somewhere in all this mess. LOL!

I'm giving myself a zero on this thread, but am raising my score from a zero to a 10 on the civil forfeiture plank. My running total through this plank is 95.

Obviously, I don't know how this works, but I would have thought there would be a pre-convention meeting of delegates to chose who their representatives to various committees would be. People might give a short speech, and the delegates then vote.

Actually, the temporary committee folks are appointed by the SRECs to develop the temporary committee reports. At the convention, in each Senatorial District Caucus, the permanent committee members are elected in a manner similiar to what you described above.(NOTE:you want to get the endorsement of the key folks from that district if possible. Otherwise, attend all the temporary committee meetings and convince the delegates to vote for you because you would do x,y,and z different than your opponent.)

The permanent committee votes on any changes and hears more testimony to finalize the permanent committee report. The committee chairman presents the report to the whole convention where it is amended and approved.

I disagree with you wholeheartedly. Get rid of any means for direct democracy. 10. (122)
