I might be mistaken, but I don't think Mel's "Old Catholic." I think he meant "old fashioned" Catholic, not "Old Catholic."

Thanks for your clarification -- this thread was posted on the "Drudge Report" under its original title. Wonder how they get away with this in Britain - I guess nobody there really cares. That really shouldn't be shocking, though, I suppose.

Did you see O'Reilly tonight? Mel Gibson on there, describing harassment due to his role playing Jesus. I searched and didn't see a thread. I didn't hear everything he said, so perhaps someone will report in.

Did Mel's daughter Hannah ever enter the convent, or was that just hype to boost Mel's ratings?

I saw it. His explanation of the film was interesting...that the message transcends words and can be conveyed by the image. He spoke about how the sacrifice is horrific...but freely given.
He also talked about being stalked by a reporter, which O'Reilly also confirmed, and said "He was sent."
Somehow I think Mr. Gibson meant the reporter was sent by a more malevolent force than an editor. It made the hair on my neck stand up, let me tell you!

I agree...it was kinda creepy...sent by whom, I wonder?

My vote is for Satan, although I realize some might laugh at me. I am assuming that is what Gibson meant, judging by the way he said it and the look on his face.
To: Miss Marple
LOL....that's exactly what I thought!....did you see his eyes when he warned about messing with his family.

Variety magazine said the Australian actor-producer Why do they keep repeating this crap? Gibson is an American who happened to live in Australia for a number of years. He's an American, not an Australian.

Well, at least there are two of us who think that!
You know, there is a lot of spiritual warfare going on, I think. Gibson did a great service to all of us by coming on TV and talking about it, although in a subtle way.

Make that three people who think that. I "just happened" to come inside from walking the dog, and I "just happened" to look up at the TV, exactly as he was saying "He was sent". Had I not seen his face, I might not have thought it, but I took it the same way that you did.

I am glad you saw it, too. At least I can feel like I'm not crazy!
To: Miss Marple
I saw the interview too. I agree he seemed to be saying that "forces" that do not want people to witness to the sacrifice of Chist, are behind this.

I read a more recent thread here at FR about the film. The scene at the cross has already been filmed, and it said to be very graphic.

Miss Marple, I thought the same thing. He said he was "sent" twice. Both times, but certainly the second time he had this look in his eyes. I think he meant satan.
To: A Citizen Reporter; Miss Marple
Well there's three of us....Im gonna watch it again at 10pm....

Make that four people. See my previous post.

Isn't this film based on the novel "The Last Temptation of Christ" a novel by Nikos Kazantakis ?
