1. Just because the NAACP exist does not negate the existance of bigots and members of the Klan.
2. The overuse of the term has weakened it and allowed bigots to claim victimhood status of thier own.
3. There are actual anti-semites who posted today and others who enjoy the fine line.

For the record, Germany did not invade Hungary.

Well, not until 1944, anyway. Then it was occupied like the rest of the Nazis' subject countries, and Hungarian Jews, who had previously been protected by Horthy, were shipped off to the camps.

Is it even relevant? Um...no. If they were robbed by the Nazis, it's immaterial whether they were Communists or not. And could it be that more than 13 people were initially affected by the theft, and those who are suing are doing so because they have the resource to do so? Whether they've got a case is a different story, but I think they're entitled to make that case.

American tax payers can't pay every claim of injustice related to a world war. Go after the officers, not the tax payer.
The officers were working with the imprimator of the US and were allowed by a higher up.
The US should go after the officers and give the money back.

The "Gold Train" was worth $200 million dollars. 295,000 Americans died in World War II. That's $677.96 per dead soldier. If the property really was traceable to its original owners, then of course it should have been returned. My point is that when you put it all in the balances, we gave a lot more than $200M.

Why should Hungarian Jews have underwritten the war effort? We didn't fight Germany to save them, we fought Germany to defeat Hitler. No US troops fought in Hungary. Many Hungarian Jews were saved by WRB agents (primarily Raoul Wallenberg) but not at US taxpayer expense. So why do these folks get the honor of having their money confiscated?

My family had the equivalent of about $10 million (in today's dollars, not counting interest) worth of property stollen by collaborationist Poles and French, and we haven't recovered a penny. I can live with that. But many folks aren't so lucky. And its one thing to be robbed by Nazis. Its quite another to be robbed by the United States of America.
