Some of the lurkers should chime in here. Sign up and make your spelling mistakes! I do. Don't be shy. Myself, I'm going to bed. Night.

The problem with guys like the author is they have obviously never worked a day in their life. Waaaaaaaay too much time on their hands, and fall into the trap of over-intellectualizing everything. To many, hating the US is nothing more than a fashion statement, really, a coffee-klatch academic exercise in knee-jerk deconstructionism. *yawn*

This fellow couldn't supervise latrine clean-up, but feels qualified to dictate foreign policy. Jeez.

Please explain what an "imperial foreign policy" is and how on earth does the USA qualify as imperialist?

In reference to the US, its just so many words posing as thought.

The US does not rule any other country, nor does it force its will on anyone. The raw materials it needs it buys at market prices. The investments it makes overseas are made by private companies, not by the US government.

The soldiers it posts overseas defend the countries where they are posted, but do not interfere with the politics of the country itself.

In those cases where we intervene militarily, we withdraw when the fighting is over, and do not stick around to rule, even in cases where it might make sense to stick around.

In other words, there is no US empire.

At Dissent's first editorial board meeting after the attacks, the liveliest topic of conversation was reportedly Chomsky, whom Walzer appears to regard as an even greater menace to society than Osama himself.

Sounds reasonable to me. Since Osama assumed room temperature several months ago, Chomsky is indeed more dangerous - as is the rest of the anti-American left.

What was good about the ANC? Weren't they just a bunch of commie terrorists?

The ANC was fighting a government that deserved to be brought down. No matter the color of their politics, I can respect that.

"The USA only runs from a fight when a Democrat is in the White House."

How very true and history bears this out. Under Carter we ran from Iran and allowed terrorists to hold Americans hostage without retribution. Under Clinton we had 8 attacks against our country and military by terrorists and all we got from the disgraced, impeached, sexual abusing rapist was an asprin factory bombed that had nothing to do with terrorists.

If we want to be safe, we need to remove Democrats and liberals from power. November will tell us if our country realizes that or not.

But by that logic you would respect Castro since Bastista was corrupt.

The trouble is, the Left are all atheists, so they don't give a d**n about the attack on Christianity.

God gives us the courage to sacrifice our lives, or the lives of our families and friends, to defend our Christian way of life by insuring the Islamic terrorists and dictators will never take away our freedoms.

In fairness the article does state ... many feminists were decrying the Taliban long before President Bush discovered what a burqa was.."

Yeah, I missed that one. I admit I almost fell asleep reading this drawn out thing, and did not see that part. I cheated and did a search for "women" and "female" and didn't turn either one up.

You obviously managed to stay awake and attentive through the whole thing. Good job.

Don't you figure that by now they would have either joined us or cast their lost with the other traitors. I for one was something of a liberal before September 11 but that changed my view completely.

I sure would like to know more about your story. I used to be a Liberal, too, but I changed gradually over about 15 years, so I think that a gradual conversion is possible. I work with and associate with Liberals every day: who else is there around here? (LoL!)

I like not to get into debates with associates, but to plant thought-seeds at appropriate moments. Thanks for the reply.
