To: I still care
"I just bought a Gadsden flag yesterday."
Where'd you get it? I've got one too (5X3), but would also like a smaller one, which the company that makes mine doesn't have.

It is ironic, at the time of this flags creation we were fighting for freedom and now days we have less liberty in the United States ever.
This is lovely, but you miss the point. This is a war sign. Prepare for squeals of protest from the conciliatory, appeasing, panty-waist, gay/lesbian, anti-war, communist, demonrat crowd. Hope they don't back down. I printed that flag on paper along with the Stars & Stripes and pasted them in the back window of muh truck last year post-911. Freedom is what we're fighting for now.

Prior to the Kitty Hawk it was flown onboard the USS Inedepndence also here in Yokosuka, my last ship. Haze grey and underway Indy bump!
I made two cruises aboard the Independence with VS-28 in '82, '83, and '84. In retrospect, that was one of the best times of my life, and gave me a solid foundation for the rest of my professional career.
Fair winds and following seas, Chief, and good to see you on FR.

I was on base a couple hours ago and the ships in port with the exception of the Kitty Hawk weren't flying the "Don't Tread On Me". It's Monday and Memorial Day here for us in Japan we are a day ahead of the States. As far as I know the only ship that even carries this flag in stock is the Kitty Hawk. The others would have to be in receipt of these flags prior to any date for the institution of this new policy.

Isn't the oldest active duty ship in the Fleet the Constitution in Annapolis? Or is that just the oldest commissioned ship?
To: johnb838
Or the ACLU. They probably will come out screaming that there is something wrong with it!

I do not think I missed the point as much as I was pointing out that all the rattle snake flags represent liberty, and the US government is trying to playoff that vision by using these flags to drum up support from the un questioning sheeple. All the mean while the very same government is shredding the constitution, in my eyes. I do think this is a subject best delt with on another thread though.
None the less I do like the symbolism.

- tread water : to keep the body nearly upright in the water and the head above water by a treading motion of the feet usually aided by the hands ****************************************
So, given the slang translation of definition 3, does this mean that the Navy flag really could be translated as "Don't F*&! with us"?
Not much diplomacy there... is it?
Hmmm...come to think of it... how about the image of a Battlegroup sailing into the Red Sea flying that flag?

Ten years ago we bought the grandson a Yellow Gadsden Flag for his tree house. At the same time we bought one for our daughter (his aunt), they are alot alike,,,,, independent and freedom loving !!
Since 9/11, we have have flown The Betsey Ross Flag and The Yellow Gadsden Flag, quite a sight!
I must admit I enjoy explaining the history of the two flags to PC liberals, who havn't a clue about them.
None the less, there is no symbolism, just the history of the two flags.
