,,, click on this if you'd like a bit of background info. What Peters has to say is essentially correct. How it's couched is what's important. Political correctness is killing New Zealand. It's how your message is delived that will ensure a degree of survival. If he'd said "we must make certain that we secure the best possible immigrants for New Zealand", it would stand up. When people are appointed in jobs here, the bottom line is "the best person for the job". That rationale follows thru and couldn't be attacked. Once that strategy is accepted, details could be thrashed out behind the scenes. He's used a line that was fine to secure votes but the media can cane him with it too.

Since the first duty of a muslim, according to the Koran, is show loyalty to Mohammed and his followers (whoever and wherever they may be), swearing an oath of loyalty to New Zealand with one hand on the Koran seems a bit contradictory.
