dedicate at least 4,000 hours in service to their communities, our country, and to the world. Sorry King George. I'm too busy working so I can pay taxes to support unconstitutional programs that you and your "good buddies" like Ted Kennedy continue to enact into law.

Ugh.
I'm in a good mood this morning, don't get me started on government-paid volunteers in matching outfits and expansion of Klinton's pinko-ish Ameriporks .... I mean Ameridorks .... I mean Americorps.

Were you ORDERED to serve? No.
The investment in promoting volunteer service is minimal when one thinks of the lives improved without government expense...children tutored, Coastguard Auxiliary, USO, etc. It seems to me to be a wise use of resources.
But then I know there isn't anything about this in the Constitution, so you don't approve.
Thanks for posting the radio address, however. I missed it this morning.

I created USA Freedom Corps, a single organization, to encourage and assist Americans in finding service opportunities both locally and around the globe; More collectivist nonsense from the Northeastern, liberally educated Dubya. Hey George, what say you give me 4000 hours of your time for FREE and maybe you'll see that it's better to spend your time earning a buck or two. Sheesh!

I dedicate 50% of my time to the Fatherland now thru what they take from my earnings and they're still spending me farther into debt. Sorry George, think I me and mine have "other priorities". I'm sure you'll understand, just ask your VP

High blood pressure warning wouldn't be enough. This is what the 'conservative' party has come to? I'm just waiting for the day it becomes mandatory instead of voluntary. I'm all for volunteering and giving time to worthy causes. However it is NOT the place of the general government, I don't care which party is in power, to tell or ask me to do so

Yes. We certainly need a federal program in order to take care of our own communities. Let me call Washington DC right now so I'll know what to do.

Were you ORDERED to serve? No Actually the IRS takes care of that, with the full consent and encouragement of most members of the executive and legislative branches.
The investment in promoting volunteer service is minimal when one thinks of the lives improved without government expense...children tutored, Coastguard Auxiliary, USO, etc.
I'm not against people volunteering. I think it's a good thing. The government, on the other hand, generally only supports people volunteering when it furthers their politically correct goals or to gain "political points" from the peasants.
For example, this government has systematically refused the support of Americans offering their services to secure our borders or our commercial aircraft. So on the issue of volunteerism, your beef is with your own gov't, not with me.
Also, I think if one totals up the cost of AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Freedom Corps and Citizens Corps, "minimal" is not the word I would use to describe it.
But then I know there isn't anything about this in the Constitution, so you don't approve.
It's certainly fine for a politician to talk about volunteering, but spending our tax dollars on stuff not authorized under our Constitution is a totally different issue. So you're right, I don't approve.

I don't have much of a problem with the idea. It's voluntary. But I certainly hope the "4000 hours" are meant as a collective total of time.

Didn't you know that jack-booted thugs show up on your door step and indoctrinate you into the Corp????? *SIGH* They certainly WILL show up if you refuse to pay for it.
Or were you under the impression that programs like AmeriKorps was a true "volunteer" effort that cost the taxpayers nothing?
