War with Irag will make appropriations issues moot. Which Senator is going to vote against them?

"Iraq preemptively invades Jordan in September to " I seriously doubt that Iraq could get an invasion force halfway to their own boarder without them being decimated from the air, just from what's in theater now.

Your scenario is as likely as mine.
(I don't expect anyone to take mine seriously.)

If a reporter relies upon anonymous sources to get a story written than it should be required that the reporter get a statement why or to what purpose the no-name source would leak this information.
I am sick of these no source/anonymous news articles. The reporters ethics should require an anonymous source to give a statement on the purpose for their leak.
We could at least put the news into context then, without it we know nothing or have to draw our own conclusions as to the background of the news reported. /rant off...I hope this is coherent

I'd still do it this Saturday when travellers are off the road and office buildings are empty for the holiday weekend until Tuesday, but that's just me. I'm still guessing the 7th.

we should have started seeing some major activity by now in the way of deployments Maybe no one has noticed the huge subterranean US Army bases just outside Baghdad, Pyongyang, and Tehran. There is a Strangelove mineshaft gap.

"... an unnamed general who heads Army logistics..."
Duh... shouldn't be too difficult to figure out if you have the Army's org chart...

There is no way the liunatic Bush woill be allowed to attack Iraq, despite what his dad and Uncle ariel say. It is amazing to watch the dumbed down masses in the US actually support it. You are fed propaganda on a simple level and you are soaking it up. The rest of the world is looking on in dumfounded amazment. If you do attack--it will be your 'Suez'--have no doubts about that. Nobody and I mean nobody will support you, period! Nice try, Ahmed. Time to go. Your camel is double-parked in a No Loading Zone.

The idea that the war can't happen because Bush is scheduled to address the United Nations, or to make a political speech in New Hampshire, is one of the silliest I have seen in awhile.
Obviously if the War goes on, all those speaking engagements go OFF!
Every day after 9-2/3 is less likely, true, 9-6/7 is Rosh Hashanah, but to my mind the New Moon of October on 10-5/6 is the last possible date. If we have not gone ahead by then, we ain't goin.
Poster above who refers to the planned Saddam attack on Iraq is right...surely we are not just going to sit back and let him go ahead with that.

In 1990 it took 6 months between the time the first soldier hit the ground until we were ready to strike Iraq. We're supposed to duplicate that in 12 weeks?
To: SANDNES
We don't need the support of others. We will do what must be done regardless of what others, particularly Eurotrash who would like to see NYC nuked, think.

You know, when they don't name the people who supposedly said all this, I don't know how they can even call it legitimate news.

Nobody and I mean nobody will support you China will. This time the Crusaders and the Khan will meet in Damascus and close the book on old business.

"In 1990 it took 6 months between the time the first soldier hit the ground until we were ready to strike Iraq. We're supposed to duplicate that in 12 weeks?" In part I agree, but on the other hand the equivalent of "hitting the ground" began months ago with forward deployment of supplies, equipment and a few thousand people. I think the next step may look a lot like what I think you're imagining, taking a large airfield, or rolling across a border or coast to build invasion support facilities inside Iraq. Or it may be part that, and/or something more imaginative that will appear to some to come out of nowhere, with much less warning than 6 months or 12 weeks.
