We don't know what is going to happen," Maldonado said, adding that her sister-in-law was breast-feeding her 1-year-old son. "It's not right.

No it's not right, put a bottle in the little ones mouth and he will be just fine. Next, deport mom and quit giving citizenship to children who are born to illegal aliens. This law has to be repealed. We are suckers. I wonder how many tourist flew into the United States today to deliver their baby in a American hospital? I'm sure there has to be a travel agency somewhere advertising this scam.

"Huerta and other protesters said they would call on President Bush, who was visiting California, to demand a change in immigration laws that would allow more illegal workers to gain necessary papers."

Huh??? I must be missing some vital piece of information here. So let me see if I get this right...illegals get busted for using somebody else's social security numbers so they could acquire jobs illegally. That's 3 criminal acts. So the way to deal with it is to call the president in and demand that "papers" be issued to make it all legal??? What the h*ll is wrong with this picture??

"Maldonado was among a group of protesters who marched through downtown Santa Ana on Friday."

They should just keep right on marching, all the way to el Mexico and whine to their own el presidente.

This artlicle points out a very serious and dangerous type of security lapse - all too common probably in most airports. Just last week I put my mother-in-law on an east-bound flight from LAX. Unfortunately, she made it okay. ;^)

Oh, but it is much more than that. She has been here two years, her baby is 1 year old and therefore an American citizen. We can't deport mom without the child, and the child has rights as an American; therefore they both get to stay.

More than 150 protesters from labor unions representing immigrant workers marched outside the federal courthouse Friday protesting the raids.

"We should not scapegoat our immigrants in the name of security," said David Huerta, an organizer with the Service Employees International Union.

Interesting how later in the story, it is mentioned that the companies that hired the illegals could be prosecuted, yet the unions who protest their arrest, and probably dispatched them to the work site, get away scott free. Surely the union has some culpability in allowing illegals to remain on their membership roles. I have no problem with legal immigrants working union jobs, it just sounds like the unions knew, and weren't telling.

So I wonder if the companies would have the legal right to sue the unions for endangerment. It would seem if the union knew that an illegal act was being committed they have the responsibility of notifying the authorities and thereby prevent the company from financial penalties and damage to their reputation.
