I also oppose amnesty for all illegal immigrants. It does not make the wrong right. I believe that the main reason it is even being considered is strictly political. Elections are coming up and both parties are trying to solicit votes.

If you were an hispanic citizen, or any other ethnicity, and had relatives and friends here illegally, who would you vote for? The party that is going to adopt your illegal relatives and friends or the party that is going to throw them out?

<< I oppose all Amnesties for Illegals Aliens, in any form. >>

I not only oppose all Amnesties, in any form, for all Criminal Aliens but believe that the breaching of America's borders by any individual and/or group of individuals should be classified a felony, part of the punishment for which would offer confiscation of all illegally aquired assets and immediate "voluntary" deportation at the criminal alien's expense or -- upon conviction -- a lifetime ban on reentering the United States for any purpose.

Further, children born in the United States to any criminal alien and/or criminal aliens should never be classified as American citizens and should also be subject to automatic deportation.

And finally, either knowingly and/or unknowingly offering any assistance, housing and/or employment [Etceteras] to a criminal alien should be classified felonies and subject to mandatory prison terms of a minimum one year for a first offence.

Hi folks,

I'm flagging here because you'd posted on this thread, and I'm keeping a running tally of the answers to the question:

Should all or some portion of the Illegal Aliens be granted an Amnesty and be thereby allowed to change their status and acquire legal residence in the United States?

Responses to this very unscientific poll are breaking down into the following categories:

1. Support blanket Amnesty
2. Support partial Amnesty
3. Support no Amnesty
4. Did not state

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to tell from your replies on the thread what your answer would be. While I think I have an idea for some of you, there have been a few surprises, so I've scored you as "Did not state."

If you'd like to clarify that, let me know.

Thanks.

No amnesty! Amnesty rewards the cheaters and encourages more illegals hoping to catch the next round of amnesty.

Here is the running tally of the informal "Amnesty for Illegal Aliens?" poll through post #450...

1. Support blanket Amnesty -
2. Support partial Amnesty -
3. Support no Amnesty -
4. Did not state -

0
7
122
17

I'll update this periodically. If you've not offered an opinion yet, please feel free to do so. Or if you know people who haven't feel free to flag them here.

Thanks.

No amnesty. Over 200 years, the chant was "No Taxation Without Representation". Today, I believe our new chant should be "No Immigration Without Assimilation".

I'm all for amnesty (this amnesty anyway....):

Amnesty = send them back from whence they came. Alternative to shooting them on site.

That's amnesty.

1) NO amnesty for illegals ...
2) A concerted effort to apprehend and deport the lawbreakers ... and
3) Subtle pressure on the legal immigrants to assimilate and become American citizens (no Spanish ballots, for example). If citizenship is not attained in 5 years, revoke their legal status and deport them.

No. Nor should they get driver's licenses, bank accounts, social security or taxpayer numbers, or voter registration. Bill the country of origin for any medical care and the cost of deporting the people. Take payment for these services from any foriegn aid.

If the country of origin is one from which terrorists may come, deport the culprit to Gitmo with the only exception being that children under 16 are returned to their homeland. I'm not worried about being "compassionate"--I just don't want to saddle our military with a bunch of kids. If they have to shoot somebody on Gitmo, I don't want them to have to chose between protecting themselves and shooting some kid.
