From boortz.com yesterday:
SOMETIMES THE LIE IS IN WHAT YOU DONT SAY
Lets talk about Bob Barr and Charleton Heston. Heston is supporting Bob Barr. Thats fine. But Heston read a script for a radio advertisement that leaves much to be desired when it comes to telling the whole truth.
The Heston radio ad says that the Congressional redistricting in Georgia resulted in a contest between two good men, John Linder and Bob Barr. Sorry. This just isnt true. It wasnt the Democrats who decided that Bob Barr and John Linder would run against each other in this primary it was Bob Barr. The decision was his, and his alone.
Now, let me explain.
The redistricting created a new 7th District and a new 11th District. Lets look at the numbers for the new 7th District first.
34% -- The percentage of the population in the new 7th District that is currently represented by John Linder.
17% -- The percentage of the population in the new 7th District that is currently represented by Bob Barr.
Now ... the numbers for the new 11th District:
70% -- The percentage of the population in the new 11th District that is currently represented by Bob Barr.
00% -- The percentage of the population in the new 11th District that is currently represented by John Linder.
OK --- the redistricting is done, and you can see what the numbers show. Once this redistricting was finalized Bob Barr was living in the new 11th District. Understand this, folks. Its important. Bob Barr was living in a new congressional district and was currently representing 70% of the people in that district!
What about Linder? He was NOT living in the new 7th District. The Democrats had drawn the lines to put John Linders home in Cynthia McKinneys district. Clearly, if John Linder wanted to continue to serve in the Congress he had to call Bekins. He did. He moved into the new 7th a district where he already represented 34% of the people.
Did Bob Barr have to move? What do you think? He was already living in the new 11th District and he was already representing 70% of the people there!
So --- just what does Bob Barr decide? He runs out and rents a U-Haul! Can you believe it? For some reason known but to Barr he decides to move OUT of the new district where 70% of the population is already represented by him and move INTO the 7th District where only 17% of the people are currently represented by him! He decides hes going to run against Linder!
So --- bottom line time. The ONLY reason these two good men, as Charleton Heston describes them, are running against each other in this primary is because that is exactly the way Bob Barr wanted it. The situation was created by Barr, not by the Democrats. He left a district where his constituents were in a strong majority, to move into a district where his current constituents were in a strong minority to run against a fellow Republican! Whats worse --- he left the new 11th District in the hands of one of two liberal Democrats, Roger Kahn or Buddy Darden!
Are you catching on my friends! For some reason that I just cant understand, Bob Barr decided that his goal this election year would be to turn over the new 11th District to the Democrats by moving away to campaign against a fellow Republican.
Sounds like you have swallowed Bob Barr's lies about marijuana. I just hope you don't ever have to die choking on your own vomit like Bob Barr's drug nazi policy made Peter McWilliams do.
Who knows if their campaign was effective or not.....hell, they didn't even need to campaign. Barr got ripped a new one. He got slaughtered worse than Gore did here in Colorado. Good riddance to that facist....
As a libertarian, I wish the govt took no more than a 1/3 of my income. But I live in California. Add in the state income tax, state & local sales taxes, a half dozen additional city, state, federal "special assessements" and "excise taxes" on my cable TV and phone bills, then the gas tax, and the various hidden taxes (corporate and value-added) which are passed along to consumers, and user fees, and some other taxes I don't know about ... it's easily half my income, if not more.
Then the Republicans slice a tinny sliver off to "give back", and Rush & Hugh Hewitt trumpet how the GOP "trusts you with you money!" and "believes in small, lean govt!"
I've come to realize the GOP is the party of HUGE GOVT SOCIALISM, minus a token sliver "give back" every now and then.
