I've been reading your posts on Grampa Dave's threads

Thanks. Although I get so angry sometimes they may seem a little incoherent.

You ever get any feedback on the Atlanta thing? Hopefully your info was put to good use. That was a great job.

I see one of our greenie conservatives is back.

Well at least you seem to be using your brain again instead of accusing me of being a militia member or proclaiming the property rights movement to be a conspiracy to make Jeb look bad.

I don't know anything of the organization you're talking about and the thread is about giving loads of tax money to left wing goon orgs.

Didn't you accuse a poster of thread hopping these land rights threads? So far I've seen you on every single one and you're always on the side of land grabs and empowering the enviral pinkos.

As for the "grass roots", notice in reply 14 that voters approved 2 to 1. The vote in the city of Austin to buy land in the recharge zone of the Edwards Aquifer have been similar.

Don't overlook the fact that these sellers can almost always make more money by developing the property. If they are close to a population center that would be high-end residential and accompanying commercial. If the property is remote, it would be mini-ranches and mobile home estates.

The owner should be able to sell to whomever he pleases, not who you you want him to sell to.

Anytime the tax revenues to the feds can be cut, it should be done.

By the way, your number 17 is not accurate.

Yes, that's what I was saying. But as often is the case in many of these referendums, the voters never read the damned thing. They title them "Save the Poor Kitty Cats" and the small print says the government has the right to take the property or do what it wants. You have to remember that 80% of voters are ignorant sheeple. We have proof of that in Florida known as Palm Beach County. They have even tested the new touch screen voting machines and they old farts still can't figure it out. So I do not have much faith in the "voters". They might be able to track 12 bingo cards, but they are clueless about what they vote for.

There is a catch 22 for the sellers though. If they sell to a developer, that developer often backs out of a lot of these deals (unless he's paid off the politicians). The envirocommies have taken the new tact of filing multiple lawsuits under varying organization's names (even though they have all colluded) to protect an area of land. This often causes large land deals to fall through. Would you want to purchase a plot of land that takes 10 years of litigation and countless thousands of dollars to win? Not to mention the federal government is giving through grants, legal aid funding to these envirocommies. This now results in the seller, who wants to get rid of it, selling to anyone including the evnvirocommies or the .gov. It's sad. You used to be able to develop your own property, but even in suburbia, the commies are blocking simple building permits even if it makes the land safer (fire prevention), easier to resell, or even just to add a bloody tool shed in the back yard. That's my main reason for opposing the legislation in the post. This is another tool to give the socialists a leg up on the capitalists, and interference in our economic system.

You know, the only thing missing from that job description is "and you must have an ability to command respect from your stormtroopers".....

The "willing sellers" you point out are the exception. See in my area, "willing sellers" are not like the rich large tract owners you speak of. They're people who've had their land devalued already by flooding and the threat of flooding. In Oregon they use fire and drought to bring about the willing. Hell all they have to do is become interested in an area and the real estate market takes takes a dive.

I can't for the life of me grasp how you could possibly conclude that using huge amounts of our tax money to buy productive land and make it useless and non-revenue producing is beneficial. They take great land and bring biblical disaster upon it. That's not an overstatement either, they've brought flood, fire, drought and affliction on nearly everything that has been trusted to their stewardship.

In the past, groups/associations associated with property rights opposed these activities but they now endorse them.

That's not what I am seeing, Ben. The owners of these easements often use fuzzy terms in the contract and attendent legal costs to harass and remove the property owner entirely. Ric Frost at New Mexico State has been working through Paragon Foundation to get the word out on that.

Exactly, see my post 26. Ben is not getting the point that the envirocommies are using the government to achieve their goals because they can not use capitalism. I wouldn't care if they bought the land and did what they wanted to with it. I do care when my tax dollars are used.

I'm aware of those instances that you mention but do think they are the exception, not the rule. A seller should have legal representation since there are those that are unscrupulouse. It is turning out that these sellers have learned that they have many options as to the terms and there are several member associations that now offer easements.

As an ecologist, I do. The damage being done to land in the name of environmental preservation is so enormous that we all have a stake in this outcome. Really. What I saw on my last trip across the Great Basin would make your blood boil. The US government and the greens are literally building a weed infested desert.

Dimrats and RINO's stabbing us in the back in the name of"open space"......Keep pushing assholes, this country may have a second revolution yet! Is it impossible for Bush to put the idiots in their place, before "Real Americans" have to take action? Let's pray that "W" can bring about "common sense" before people are forced to escalate to a really ugly level.

That's not what I am seeing, Ben.

That's not what anyone is seeing except Banal Ben the convserva-greenie, he's extremely factually challanged. Fun to watch though.

Nearly every property rights group in the nation is showing up for this . 40 groups nationwide and 2 international groups will participate as per the conference in TN. So I don't know where Ben is getting the material for his command performance in doltery.

I will never ever object to anyone purchasing land on the free market system. However the problem I have is that the government through lower rate loans, grants and tax breaks are giving the envirowhackos an unfair advantage over real capitalists. I also would like to point out that the greens who purchase the land should also be held as legally liable for the damage they inflict on property as Dow Chemical or Corning would be. But that will never happen. As when they purchase these lots of land they are given "enviromental exemptions" because of their intended land use. So you are correct in that assertion, but unfortunately blocked from suing them because that violates the one tenant of communism:

The state is always right and has all the rights. Individuals have no rights. They are tools of the state.

W doesn't care. He has his land. His wealthy friends have their land. Property ownership is not his concern. When will you people wake up and realize this?

By the way AAA, I might just make it down there now....I'll let you know as the time gets closer. God knows we need a large turnout and national news coverage to get Jeb's attention. Especially this close to the election.

Your technique to insult those who disagree with you is not relevant to your issue there. That would be the the voters in Florida that disagree with you. Now, the Everglades restoration will go forward because Florida is going to need the water. There will be drilling in the eastern Gulf because Florida will need the natural gas. The limestone will be mined because Florida will need the cement. Sure, your group may be able make minor changes at the expense of the taxpayers throughout the country, but hey, whats wrong with screwing the taxpayers elsewhere.
