If anyone at the NEA had a brain, they would be arrested for smuggling sh*t.

My parent's generation (in their 80's now) would never put up with the PC nonsense that is foisted on young parents today. Never in a million years! And their contemporaries (teachers and administrators) would never think of tryng to pull the wool over their eyes or pull rank on them just because they were employed by a public school. Abraham Lincoln said something to the effect that what is taught in one generation will be part of the culture of the next. I don't blame kids if they can't read, write, or do math. These kids, for the most part, learn what is taught to them eagerly (maybe the ones that don't want to learn know something -- that their education is a fraud perhaps?). Unfortunately, what is taught to them in many instances is not worth much. Teach them to read well, write well, reason well, and argue well. Cut the extreme environmentalism, radical feminism, multiculturism, perverted sex ed, and dubious academic programs that don't teach students to read or do math very well. ("Let's try this and see if it works.") After God knows how many years that public schools have been in existence in this country, there should be no more experimentation. You either know what works or not. If you don't, get the HELL out of education! I'm sorry, but this really pisses me off.
