TEll me how this is not an overt bribe?

Can't. That's just what it is. Democrats are easily bought. Hell, they sold our Military technology to Communist Red China!

OH - ok - whew! It's the Stock analyst / recommender who paid the bribe...uh, donation.

Notice - he has NOT been arrested and taken away in handcuffs.

Payoffs pay.

Yes they are easily bought.

Some of it is plain old corruption.

Some of it (like selling or giving secrets to the Communist Chinese and other enemies) is because of their loathing for America and their LOVE for all things anti-American!

The day after Clinton strong-armed India into giving Enron some enormous contract, Lay cut a $100,000 check to the DNC.

Isn't that the same kind of thing VP Agnew was run out of office for?

I once lost an investment banking deal to Paine Webber (Jack's old firm). The client's point blank explanation was that they needed Jack's stature and credibility. He certainly earned his finder's fee afterwards, stunning me with his continuing, table-pounding enthusiasm even later as I was backing away from the stock (too many evasive answers and too much aggressive accounting). I hope this isn't just schadenfreude, but I'm not weeping for him now.

$100K is about what I would've made on that deal, btw. Funny.

Checked back on Grubman. No contributions to either party from 1980 to 1994.

In 1996, Grubman gave $23,000 to Democrats. Zilch to Republicans.

From 1998 to the end of June this year, Grubman gave $73,000 to Democrats and $6,000 to Republicans.

The one check Grubman donated to Democrats the very day he was subpoenaed to testify before congress is only $3,000 more than he has given to either party in the last 22 years.

Add in this latest $100,000 check to Democrats and Grubman's lawyers claim that he "gives to both parties" is even more patently misleading.

Grubman has given 97% of his money to Democrats.

Political Money Line: Donor Name Lookup

Martha Stewart will be the media fall woman. Gary Winnick is pulling a Marc Rich. He and his Canadian friends from the day when they all worked for Michael Milliken looted Global Crossings of nearly $2 billion (the Canadians made hundreds of millions when GX had fallen to pennies a share).

Winnick is pouring tens of millions into "charities" which will buy the silence of many people. Winnick and Marc Rich are even listed as major supporters of one charity on the net. Don't know if they are on the board or what but their names are among a dozen or so top supporters.

INteresting!

Thanks for digging up the dirt, LarryLied! I second the notion that the grub-man should be in the slammer. Along with the demoRat that accepted his donation and conspired with him.

Master of Disaster - How L.A.'s super-rich Gary Winnick is trying to wash blood from the Global Crossing implosion off his hands -- and make more money in the bargain.

The Canadians make $1.2 billion speculating on Global Crossing.

They just "happened" to know Gary from when all of them worked for convicted felon Milliken at Drexel Burnham Lambert. They were just good traders I'm sure. Their friendship with Gary had nothing...nuthing...to do with their amazing trading abilities.

You are good. Excellent question. Winnick left Drexel in 1985. What was Terry doing in 1985? And what are the names of the Canadian former Milliken associates who profited from the demise of Global Crossing? Are they tied to MacAuliffe?

Good questions, they give me a place to start. It might take a couple of days, (in-laws in from Indiana tomorrow, blech) LOL.

I love to dig.

Thanks for the ping!

Did you see Grubman's 'testimony'? It was a joke. You know Rush's parody on Hillary's 'Try to Remember'? It sounded a lot like that!

The questions you raised re: McAuliffe, Millken, Winnick, etc....I wonder if anyone's bothered to talk to Rudy G? He should know a LOT about these people. Maybe that little subject was covered last week at the White House? Hmmm?

I didn't see it. Sounds like I didn't miss much though LOL!

OMG - Do you think? That would be a much better explanation of what Rudy was doing at the WH in a "closed door meeting", than some of the speculation.

Special prosecutor? Would they bring one in for something that was potentially as big as this?

A girl can dream, no?
