'Safety bullet' invention aims to prevent accidental shootings

Amen. I will not be using one ... ever.

I'll teach my kids, train my kids, make sure they understand the hard realities and then insure any of their friends know those realities.

I pray we never have a terrible acciden. If we do, that's exactly what it will be and I will seek solace in my God.

If we are ever attacked though, we will be prepared without having to worry abpout safety bullets, safety locks, locked gun cabinets, etc.

There is NO substitute for proper training, which teaches one and all that ALL GUNS MUST BE TREATED AS IF THEY ARE LOADED AND COCKED AT ALL TIMES. "Safety Bullet" violates this First Commandment, and would actually INCREASE gun accidents by causing folks to "think" the gun was safe with its HIDDEN FROM VIEW safety-bullet, which may or MAY NOT be present, since it is INVISIBLE. If it leads to a PERCEPTION of safety and more "horseplay" with guns, there will be more accidents.

unless its your kid that found your gun and he is pointing it at you daughter. That is what got me started in this an article about a four year old finding his grandfathers gun and killing his six year old sister with it.

I am open to new ideas what do you have that will make a gun safe and stop kids from killing each other?

Have you ever used a safety device of any kind? If you did was it faster and safer than my idea? Put your gun in a safe. It uses either a key or a combination. How is that fast and not complicated? Or use a trigger lock. It also uses a key or a tumbler lock. How is that faster than simply ejecting a bullet. Please, have I missed something here. The whole idea here is gun safety.

What do you know of that is fast and safe and yet trouble free. I don't know of any other thing.

Never gonna happen. We have a great piece of paper that this country was founded on and it guarentees our right to bear arms. The anti gun group and yell all they want to many pro gun people will never let it happen.

One of the things I love about this country if there is something you don't like make it better or invent something that is better than this. Go ahead, give it a try. How quickly can one "un-spike" a gun if the hammer has been accidentally dropped on your device? (Assuming, of course, that the tool you mention is close at hand.)

OK, Start reading some stories on accidental shooting. Take a look at each one and how they happen. Its either a kid who doesn't know any better or someone who said they did not know the gun was loaded. Most everyone here knows their way around a firearm and are not likely to be involved in an accidental shooting. Just like they all probebly never had a car accident. People other than the owner of the gun gets in and fires it and kills someone. SOmetimes their sister, or father, or a friend wind up dead because they don't know guns but you do. If I was very concerned about something like that happening I would simply leave the gun unloaded. But NOOO there's no money to be made on such a simple concept. Also, you did not address my concerns regarding a self defense situation. Somebody could forget about having your bullet loaded and get themselves killed just as easily as they could forget it is loaded!

Thanks for your imput but your wrong.

Go read the article called " FIREARM STORAGE PATTERNS IN THE US HOMES WITH CHILDRE" Then come back and tell me I am on the wrong track. What I am about is trying to put an end to accidental shootings. Are you aware that since 1979 until now over 70,000 people have died by accidental shooting. Five times that # have been injured. So far nothing invented has put a stop to that. That is what I got started.

I have noticed a lot of people saying its stupid, idiotic, insulting etc, etc yet no one else has an answer. If your into guns like I am we are taught to leave the firing chamber empty and always treat a gun like its loaded. Yet if you take the time to read some the accidental shooting stories you'll find it was ususally done by a kid that found a gun or by someone doing something stupid.

I would have hoped that we could all be on the same side pushing for gun safety. Instead what I am seeing is a lot of hate mail and slams. Sad.

This is going to be on the market and it is going to save a lot of lives I hope you use some kind of safety device.
