Before the frivolouse coffee lawsuit generation there was a specific standard for suing over a grade. In those types of cases the grade had to have an element of subjectiveness. Something such as an essay. There also had to be expert testimony identifying why a higher grade was deserved. If you could provide a preponderance of evidence that a higher grade was deserved a jury would find in your favor.

Bad teacher abound today. Do you trust public school teachers?

I had a colegue with a child in lawschool. There was a professor who was so bad in teaching and the resulting failure rate for the professors exams was so high that the school reached a settlement with the wronged students. The grades would stand but would not be part of the student's all important grade point average. This was apparently the professors first teaching post.

Before we are quick to criticise we should realize there are reasons for students to contest the grade. Reasons beyond not being able to play on the sports team.

Can you eliminate a situation where a leftist teacher would "reduce" the grade of a conservative student? No, of course not. Leftists will always favor leftists in the ivory tower.

Next discussion: University admissions policies with regards to political afiliation.

(sorry about spelling)

It will end when the frivolous lawsuit rules ON THE BOOKS right NOW are enforced. In that case frivolous filer AND the lawyer pays jointly and severaly. (you can collect 100% you owed from either party and then they have to sort out percentages) In federal court it is call rule 11.

The late great congressman Claude Pepper did a congressional inquiry on the diploma mills. He obtained doctorates and various degrees for his cat.

Amen! BFM like this is why the 'good teachers', the ones with keen intellects and high standards, are leaving the profession in droves. The only ones left are the twits who confuse activity with accomplishment and only serve to perpetuate the problem.

And, I get flamed when trying to find a job outside of teaching. Arrrgh!!! Am fluently bilingual and desperate to avoid teaching. The above comment is right on target.
