Most gunowners know the score and have an 'emergency' weapon with no paper trail.

Let's hope so.

The bottom line is eventually they'll ask everyone to pony up their guns voluntarily or else. Its the else part where things start to go bad.

The Red Coats found out about the unintended consequences of trying to seize guns from the populace. Let's hope that those inclined to try to do the same in the future think better of it. I think that "or else" will be really nasty for both sides, including the loss of homes, families, etc.

"The Red Coats found out about the unintended consequences

Interesting pt! It wasn't weapons but ammo confiscation that started the whole thing. This aspect never gets talked about in the debate. By todays (low) std the Minute Men would be labelled terrorists and all for a few rounds of ammo.

"Let's hope that those inclined to try to do the same in the
future think better of it."
An objective examination of the situation would indicate no lessons learned (on either side).

"I think that "or else" will be really nasty for both sides,
including the loss of homes, families, etc. "
No doubt...of course its all avoidable. If we had stuck to text then we wouldnt be here today. Its all built on the back of small compromises and raw greed. Very sad.

Do you think the BATF computers are hacked? I'd bet the rent they are hacked to death, along with the IRS. Think about it, hackers get into banks, credit card databases even the DOD. Do you think BATF has better security than Microsoft?

Is doing the 4473 thing once in a while really a bad thing for you?

I've done it, now I regret it. It is a form of prior restraint, registration, guilty until proven innocent, Unconstitutional, unnecessary and just plain wrong.

Other than that I have no comment.
