Once in awhile Friedman makes some sense. He's not Paul Krugman.

But you were accurate in your assessment of this piece earlier in this thread. He wouldn't have expounded on something he understands so poorly without it being written for an entirely different reason.

I must agree; that is a fair assessment. Friedman can go from sappy, as when he was promoting Prince Abdullah's "peace plan", to perceptive (an example escapes me, but there are some).

But what does it say about a person's integrity when they turn over their opinion, i.e., their personal mentality and credibility, to the service of a perverse agenda -- exposing their own ignorance in the process?

In the end, Friedman is revealed as no more than a willing tool, to be wielded by a Saudi royal or the Times editorial board.

It must be hell being a liberal, never being able to discover and express yourself...
