You might trace it to and blame it on the beginning of Frank-lin Roosevelt's New Deal in 1933, but even during the "Reagan Revolution,'' federal spending grew by 90 percent. I trace it to the passing of the Seventeenth Amendment in 1913. That amendment took away state appointment of Senators and made Senators popularly elected. So, instead of the Senate being the state's chamber in Congress, the Senate became a super-House of Reperesentatives. That's when the states lost their seat at the federal table.
Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment!
