No, she would have done the same as what happened today. And Ashcroft may have handled Waco the same as Reno did.

Agree on the second, disagree on the first. You underestimate the pure hatred the left has for (a) those that embarrass them and (b) capitalists in general.

The GOP is marginally better than the Dems. But only marginally. Both are led by political animals with little regard for the Constitution.

I'll take the margin (easier to sneak in the occassional victory).

"Just For De-Feet"

BTW...

Michael Rigas, son of Adelphia Communications founder John Rigas, is led from New York's main post office building by U.S. postal inspector police Wednesday, July 24, 2002, on his way to federal court in Manhattan. Rigas, a former Adelphia executive, was arrested Wednesday on charges of securities fraud, along with his father and brother Timothy, also a former company executive. (AP Photo/Louis Lanzano)

RUMOR: There is a report from a man who lives near the area that there have been multiple SHOOTINGS in Coudersport this morning. Can anyone confirm this?

I don't see anything on the wires from Coudersport that isn't specifically about the arrests. Must not be true.

I have been asking anybody that will listen what about Mail Fraud for these CEO types.

My limited understanding is that every time you place a USPS stamp on a document to commit fraud (Annual reports ring a bell) it is 5 or 10 years for each and every piece. We don't need more posturing by both the commies and the RINOs, just enforce those on the books.

Well it now seems that mail fraud charges are in the offering for the Rigas.

I'm with you, and I'm not holding my breath for further arrests. Besides, these foxes just did what came naturally when Congress left them guarding the hen house back in the '90's. Arrests will not change the accounting rules, but it will keep we Little People from asking for such changes. Hang a fox or two, then back to the staus quo and the chickens will be perfectly safe.

NOT.

Howdy

Excellent! Capitalism can not operate without a cop on the beat, and under clinton the Justice department, the SEC and the rest of our law enforcement organs were utterly impotent.

clinton and his corrupt corporate cronies cleaned up bigtime, if you were wondering why the economy did well in spite of the largest increase in taxes in planetary history, here is your answer. Rampant fraud under the most corrupt leadership in the history of the United States of America.

Maybe it was intentional, if The People lose faith in freedom, the way is paved for the socialist enslavement that liberals slaver over.

Jailing corporate barbarians like this foul group is a good start, but it would be far more encouraging if the ken lays and clintons and rubins faced prosecution under RICO statutes for their determined violence against Democracy.

"The SEC and Justice Department can bring the exact same charges for the exact same conduct." .. At the exact same time?

All Five = Freed on $10 million bail each. If guilty will get 12 years each, real time, in a real prison, not Club Fed. Just heard that on Fox. Greta V S says Gov. needed a poster child to put up as swindlers, etc. This will cause all other corporations to clean up their act. Paper trail is good in white collar crime. Must think they can beat the charges though, or would have tried to work out a deal with gov. Liz Weil said that.

The vast majority of it goes to Republican candidates or to the cable TV PAC, which gives the majority of its money to Republicans as well (though they try to play it safe by supporting some Democrats).

Yes, but appearances can be deceiving. Cable operators in particular have been forced to play both sides of the field since '96's deregulation. The avarice displayed in the Rigas' crimes convinced me I smelled a RAT, as in Democrat.

So I poked around a bit and learned a couple of interesting facts. Adelphia was a Trustee level ($100K) contributor to the 2000 DemoRat convention in L.A. They played no commensurate role in Philadelphia for the Republicans. Further, none other than Adelphia's VP for Political Affairs, Bill Rosendahl, was a motivational speaker at a pity party for notable California ultraleftists in the aftermath of November 01's events. See Wake Up Demcrats; Take Back the Country Conference The show was sponsored by, who else, Southern California Americans for Democratic Action (SCADA) and the Campaign for America's Future, a coupla yuppified commie fronts.

Rosendahl also does 'public affairs' TV programs in Kali.

It was a pathetic over reach of the police to put handcuffs on these guys.

Not for me, I would have liked to have seen these guys beheaded. Tried to get Adelphia to install a cable modem. They made 4 appointments where they never came and then lied to their dispatcher that I wasn't home, even though I was. When the moron finally showed up he couldn't get the set up to work, and then left.

That didn't stop them from billing me $35.00 bucks a month for non working cable modem service.

I couldn't get them to come back and take it out, so I took it out myself and returned it to the local office, They billed me $35.00 bucks for another 3 months and then sent me a bill for $275 for the cheap cable modem card that I had returned to their office 3 months earlier.

Luckily I had kept the receipt indicating I had returned it, and was able to get the morons to leave me alone. I knew at that point that a huge scam was going on.

They also refuse to put FOX NEWS on their cable system.

1000 years behind bars sounds like a bargain to me.

It was a pathetic over reach of the police to put handcuffs on these guys. A simple phone call to their houses and they would have come in, but no the govt. needed to have a photo op of a 70 year old man in a business suit being led away in handcuffs. This is a classic abuse of police authority.

Cry me a river for the Rigases (Rigi?). If the gov really wants to deter corporate fraud like this there's a real simple way...get rid of white collar prisons. Send the Rigasas to Attica. That will put the fear of God into corporate execs.

Don't even think of using Adelphia for internet access(see post #75).
