Certain drama queens -- Browne, for example -- dream that they are important subversives, that the Gulag is just around the corner, and that their heroic selves will be forced to make a stand any minute now. In fact, nobody in the gummint gives a s**t about them. They are quite quite safe. This is the sort of attitude tyrannies thrive on. I'll say no more.

. These libertarians need to realize that "freedom" isn't worth anything without being alive. You've got that backwards.

All of those fuddy-duddies constutuionalist fanatics who can't "get with it" and realize that the 1st, 2nd, 4th & 6th amendments are irrelevant to today's modern world really should either come over to our side or else gracefully go out to pasture and let us get on with the business of ruling the people. A fuddy-duddy named Dick Armey stripped TIPS and national drivers licenses out of the bill yesterday. He actually seems to think that TIPS isn't a good idea, and that states should control drivers' licenses. Imagine that.
Security bill loses ID card, TIPS

I don't recall who, but someone once suggested that in evaluating a proposed law or program, you should try to imagine how it would work out if run or enforced by your worst enemy.
Very few of us expect to come under the crosshairs of the State. We're the good guys, right? But Niemoller's Lament was composed for a reason. And as Friedrich Hayek told us in The Road To Serfdom, it's the worst, not the best, who tend to get on top.

Ah, sorry then. But I still think I had a GREAT comeback. :)
Free Republic has unfortunately been invaded by enough government-lovers that opinions like your sarcasm are all too often made legitimately.

You can explain later to the neighbors that those policemen and strange-looking agents were at your home by mistake, right? Strange looking? Granted, most of them have some polyester in their shirts and ties, but that hardly qualifies as "strange looking.". But the real reason is 'cause I'd just baked a cake, so we got together at the house instead of the local coffee shop. Next question, neighbor?
