Thought you might find this interesting, my friend.

You are correct again. Republicans do not understand the art of attack. I used to work for a guy that I admired very much. He relied on logic to carry the day. I pointed out that logic plays a very small role in political decisions. He refused to be swayed. After several years of relying on logic he lost his job. In recent incarnations he has begun to factor in political implications. I no longer work for him but I am heartened that he has learned an important lesson. Republicans must adhere to principles but not ignore the effects of process. I have spent at least 15 years trying to get this point across to little avail.

Forty seats? In his dreams, perhaps. Or our nightmares.

And did littly dicky immediatly leave the capitol and get on a private corporate jet to fly off somewhere like the democrat senators did?
The republicans had better get off their backsides and expose these democrats as the very people who pushed this thing into existance by standing behind and supporting lies, parcing, shaving the truth. THEY are the ones who told America that you can get away with it if you can lie good enough.

Baloney. The GOP isn't going to lose the House. Interesting that Gephardt is staking everything on this. What if we are at the end of the corporate scandals and what if the SEC comes down hard on some of the crooks involved? Congress is totally overplaying their hand on this corporate chicanery and the people know it. Most people are just laughing at all the politicians and their "outrage" and talk about a joke: Congress trying to tell corporate America how to clean up their books!!
Plus, this is summer and I don't think many are paying attention. Harken is already falling off the pages and Halliburton is not in any trouble here based on what I have read and have come to understand as purely an accounting issue which appears to be legit. The Dems are just blowing hot air and the public knows it.

Here's what my plan would be if I were running the GOP:
"In carrying out the task assigned....you will be governed by the principle of calculated risk, which you will interpret to mean the avoidance of exposure of your force to attack by superior enemy forces without prospect of inflicting, as a result of such exposure, greater damage to the enemy."
Right from the operations orders given to our forces right before one of the most famous battles in American history.

If you are correct, and you may well be considering the Republicans lackluster approach to the Democrats, just how long will it be until they impeach Bush? I am very discouraged by the Republicans inability to articulate their position.

Roll Call is a left-wing, badly edited gossip rag read only by political junkies on Capitol Hill.Yes, Roll Call tilts a bit to the left, but I find it to be an excellent source of political information. And I don't think you'll find anyone on this thread agreeing with Dick's predictions.

Three things will determine which party controls the next
congress: turn-out, turn-out and turn-out. The party that gets their base out in the biggest numbers will win.

"If this thing plays out right".............Sheesh, pretty much say's it all doesn't it?
The governance of this country is not play, it is not a game, it is not for party style grandure. The people deserve and should demand politicians bigger than school-yard political gamesmanship.

It is somewhat impossible to "fight back" against the media.
One could consider the the Halliburton/Harken fest to be a tactical foundation for further media efforts. Of course the most effective ones will be those that occur closest to election day when there is no time to respond.

I'd like to see Corzine slapped with the new stiffer penalties that the senate just passed!!!!!

That's really, really good stuff!
Now if we could just get you into the leadership of the RNC...sigh... ;-)

Do a little investiation on how incumbents have been dong in the primaries and then get back to us about whether or not Gephardt has reason to expect some major congressional shifts....

I guess we can hope and pray that people's concern for the Republic outweighs their ire at leadership.

Tell you what. Since I broke a sweat copying and pasting this article, you can do the research and get back to us. Thanks much!
