"...unscrupulous politicians who have overburdened local communities with taxes to subsidize their professional sports stadiums, leaving little for the mass-transit projects that benefit a broader segment of the population."

Aaaaah. I think I'm beginning to understand.

It isn't that you mind dipping into the tax trough for projects you feel are worthy, you just object to funding projects that don't interest you. If your ideas aren't embraced you just declare politicians "unscrupulous". You decide what projects benefit a broader segment of the population, too. Gee, Mr Green, I thought that was the responsibility of our elected officials not engineers. Are you running for office ?

No, I'm not running for office.
I'm simply a private citizen and taxpayer who is tired of being lied to by "elected officials" of both Republicrat factions.
Yes, I am very judgemental as to how that money is spent.
That is my right as a taxpayer.
Those "elected officials" are public servants, and I get quite ornery when the servants are looting the silver.

Nothing in the SS "Trust Fund" but a bunch of Gov't IOUs.
In the private sector, raiding pension funds like that has been punishable by prison for corporate officials for decades.
Just ask Denny McClain. (Interestingly, another Major League Baseball Scam Artist, just like Dubya!)

Did Dubya instill enough confidence in Wall Street for you to entrust your Social Security to the Enron of tomorrow?

Come now, it is apparent you think your determination of what is in the best interest of the "public" is the only opinion that should matter. You think it should be the president's number 1 priority, too.

I think it should be, although I don't believe it is.
In fairness to Dubya, he probably is honest in his convictions.
It's more a case of being adversely influenced by those he hangs out with.

Washington D.C. is full of nothing but liars, scoundrels, thieves, hypocrits and prostitutes.
Not a one of 'em is acting purely in the best interests of the nation.
Dubya's too close to the action, can't see the forest for the trees.
Just swallows the mumbo-jumbo that's fed to him.

First you say the President "probably is honest in his convictions.". Then you say his problem is that he is hanging out in DC. Last I heard that is where the President of the United States lives and works. Instead of complaining about the president why not work to get candidates that you approve of elected ?

Willie just doesn't think the people should be allowed to back a tax that provides them with what they want. They should get what the need.

He's onviously a man who has no idea that to Texans, sports is more important than public transit, desalinization or indoor plumbing. He doesn't seem to grasp that small Texas towns turn out their entire populations for Girl's VOLLEYBALL!!

He also hates the fact that folks did something that benefitted, not only themselves, but someone he didn't vote for.

That's the whole point: the reason I won't vote for them is that they tax the public for their own personal benefit.
