"Improprieties have taken place in our party, and I'm fed up with it," said Ryan. Ryan also talked at some length about possible permanent replacements for Daniels as head of the Illinois GOP.Then why didn't you do anything about it when you were Attorney General, JIM?

"If anyone in my party has broken the law," said Steve Meyer State Committeeman from Oak Park, "and he is proven guilty, then he should be punished - and be thrown in jail."
Normally this would make me proud to be a Republican (albeit by chance, since the pubby party is home to Conservatism for now) But, of course as you point out.. the man was the AG.
Why didn't he do something about it then as opposed to grandstanding now?

I wish some Republicans would have the cajones to flat out denounce Illinois' King George. He ran under the Republican ticket, but his platform was way to the left of his Democrat challenger (for whom I voted, BTW). I don't know why people continue to refer to him as a Republican, since I've never seen him do anything to justify that name.

Trivia question; Do you remember the Reform Party candidate we voted for?

Bingo. Ryan and Ryan are both frauds and crooks. Need a drivers ID?

"Why didn't he do something about it then as opposed to grandstanding now?"Political pressure to not do the right thing.
Jim Ryan did nothing about the License for Bribes Scandal, out of state U.S. Attorneys had to come in and investigate this corruption, basically doing Jim Ryan's job. I personally hope that Ryan loses the election for this severe dereliction of duty on his part.
If Jim Ryan could not do his job as Illinois Attorney General, I shudder to think of why he feels he deserves the position of Illinois' Governor.

Lee Daniels used to be my state rep. What did he do? You mean besides destroying the Illinois GOP?

Well, in Illinois you can just pay for one and then hit a van full of children and watch them die in a fiery car/truck crash.
Jim Ryan apparently felt it was better to ignore these crimes in order to protect his own political position.

Glen Poshard was the Democrat, and he was the one I was inclined to vote for at the time, if I lived in Illinois.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
typical Republican.
To: Scholastic
Yeah, I would have too, had I been old enough. Poshard was pro-life and I appreciated that.
To: Barnacle
Thanks Barnacle for the "pong".
"Improprieties have taken place in our party, and I'm fed up with it," said Ryan...
What a worthless political hack. Where's a barf bag when you need one?
To: Scholastic
Yeah, sort of like George W. and Chingate.

That's why I highlighted the quote. I was wondering if he was trying his hand at stand-up comedy.
