Excellent news from Virginia! Now how do we get these plates in Florida?

Good news bump!

Owen Yates, of the Mechanicsville chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, displays his new Sons of Confederate Veterans license plate, encased in a theft-proof bracket, on his car Monday in Richmond.

God Bless America...
I wish I had relatives from The Confederacy!
I'd apply for that plate in a fraction of a second!

I expect my ancestors served in the Grand Army of the Republic, but God bless our brethren from the South. Huzzah!

Yep - I think they are yellow. I used to work for the guy who started all the "vanity" license plates. The original vanity tag was to honor and remember the 7 astronauts from the 28 Jan. 1986 Challenger accident. From there all kinds of interest groups jumped on it - we have all the college tags, florida panther, mosquito lagoon, manatee, right to life, etc.
I would like to see a confederate florida tag - I made my own with a little square CBF sticker on the corner of mine!

Have you researched the matter? You might be surprised. I was near-astounded at the numbers in my family on both sides, for whom it very much was a war of brother against brother and cousin versus cousin. Several of my ancestors voted with their feet in order to do as their conscience dictated, and I'd dearly have love to heard their heartfelt opinions expressed firsthand; those who supported either side.
there was little of the conscript or extorted duty about them. they stood for that in which they believed, and several died for it. I think they all deserve the honour many still pay them, and I try to. And wonder which choice I'd have made, had I been in their shoes in their time.

I don't know if TN has a SCV tag or not. Like you I have my own. A Bonnie Blue front plate. Most yahoos think it's for Texas...LOL. There are a fair number of Stars and Bars too. The Battle Flag gets less play unless accompanied by a gunrack...lol.

I, personally, have no fight with Jeff Ellett over his new, Confederate VA license plate. But if he comes up here to Milwaukee and makes a wrong turn on the north side of town, his red-and-gray pickup is going to have some bullet holes in it.

But if he comes up here to Milwaukee and makes a wrong turn on the north side of town, his red-and-gray pickup is going to have some bullet holes in it.So let me get this straight. In your world, he has no First Amendment rights above the line and you are willing to use a deadly weapon to prevent him from exercising his free speech? Yep, that about works out, looks like the Empire has taken over completely up there. Good work, subject.
To: billbears
I don't think Ricoche T has an issue with the license plate, it's his redneck Milwaukee neighbors that have a hang-up with it. They better be careful though, if the Virginia boys are anything like us crackers, they'll shoot back!
To: stainlessbanner; RicocheT
Well if that's the case let me be the first to apologize. I might have misread the post

bump for dixie LIBERTY,sw
To: stainlessbanner
But U.S. District Judge Jackson L. Kiser ruled in favor of the group in January 2001, on the grounds that Virginia's refusal to issue the tag because of its Confederate flag logo amounted to discrimination against the SCV, and violated the group's right to free speech. Isn't it great that the Confederates lost the war so that all Americans still have the liberties that the Confederates were trying to deny to some (eg. the women whom Jefferson Davis threatened to shoot during the Richmond bread riots of 1863)?

Crud. I assume you have to be a Virginian, too? My peeps left the state in the 19th century...

What an ignorant sounding little diatribe, boy. Take a break. You don't have to be a clymer 24/7.
