"Fluoridation: Nature Thought of it First".

We must protect the purity an essence of our bodily fluids.

I've got some text overlap on this post. Are you getting freaky with the CSS layout?

This article was educational (and I think has been posted at least in part on FR before, but I can't find it right now): Prominent Canadian Fluoridation Proponent Changes Mind.

Note that high US obesity rates might be at least partially related to flouride consumption - has to do with flouride getting in the way of iodine absorption in the thyroid, impacting thyroid production and metabolism. (Flouride was once used to kill off overactive thyroid. Now we get it in our water.) Countries in Europe with less obesity also do not flouridate H20.

I am getting text overlap on the keywords, but that is it. Whenever I post, I usually put a few line breaks in to account for the keywords, but I forgot to do so on this post.

Other than that, there should be no formatting to cause overlap.

Doh! I just realized that the article is formatted within a table. I think that caused the overlap.

I have wondered whether the reasons Americans fight with obesity could be related to city water.

My husband and I moved overseas, and my weight dropped 20 pounds without eating differently. When we would go back to the states, my wieght would go up. When we returned to our overseas home, it went down again. Now we live in a very rural area and we have well water, and I don't have to fight with my weight. So I wonder if you may be on to something there.

Cities pose more temptations to overeat.

You're just "getting the runs" more often from the untreated water..........just kidding! I have a well also, and there's nothing better.

Since fluoride is naturally occurring in most areas of the country, it is likely that you have at least trace amounts of fluoride in your water now. Check with your local water authorities to find out.

But that begs the question, as with any disease reportedly related to fluoride consumption, if it is naturally occurring in water suppiles around the country, some at levels hundreds of times higher than optimal, why don't we see a history of rampant obesity in these areas?

What about colon cancer? Anyone heard that fluoride prevents proper metabolism of magnesium?

Paging Dr Stangelove...

I didn't see a lot of fat people while I was in Africa. Maybe it's got something to do with politics. If you're an evil colonialist, God curses your kith and kin to obesity as a way of redress. Then again, I note that many African despots and dictators past and present were fat. Hmmmm.

One question I have: Has obesity gone up in the States in the past few decades? I do not believe in all this low fat food and people thinking that as long as they keep the fatty food low- they can eat carbohydrates all they want. You gotta eat fat to be healthy, you gotta eat fat to keep from being obese (what I mean is a balanced diet at least 20% calories from fat/20% protein/the rest in simple and complex carbs). I believe it is a fairly recent trend- obesity in America and has just as much to do with our affluence and diet as anything else.

In my pocket dictionary, "fluoride" and "tinfoil" are right next to each other. Someone has removed pages 295-756 from my dictionary. I have my suspicions about who is responsible...

Off-topic perhaps but a local bumper sticker (I'm in timber country) reads "Don't like logging? Then try plastic toilet paper."

For me, the issue isn't whether flouride is a medically sound dental-decay preventative. It is whether it is proper to force everyone to drink it because some people believe it is a medically sound dental-decay preventative. I don't believe forced medication with flouride is proper.

On the advice of close personal friends who also happen to be dentists, my wife and I have always given our children flouride tablets and not one of them has ever had a trace of dental decay, nor is any of them less than healthy in any other way. Whether this is due to flouride I really can't say. However, the tablets are easy to get and they are dirt cheap. If a community is concerned about a "plague" of dental caries, instead of force-medicating everyone in the community, why not make the tablets available at the local county health agency?

People who oppose flouride have been ridiculed, and wrongly so in my opinion.

The water supply in Nairobi, Kenya contains flouride which is not added, but occurs naturally. The water bill has a statement noting the natural flouride content of the water - I forget the percentage - and cautioning that it may turn very young childrens' teeth brown. Never had a cavity in the three years I lived there.
