I forgot to watch the news this evening. We drove home from American Fork to Provo, and the smoke from the fire was incredible. There was no wind, so the smoke wasn't moving. I just looked out my front door, I can see the fire from my front porch. This is a bad one...

Thanks. It is sooo dry here in Utah. We're all trying to conserve water. Just pray for the firefighters that they can put the fire out and that they will stay safe.

FF,

I hope not although we have had our share of fire-bugs in this area.

My guess will be fireworks. Since Utah has such a strict firework policy many of the kids will hide in the foot-hills where they can't be seen to shoot them off. IMHO it is a counter productove policy especially with the supply of real fireworks available to us in Wyoming. No one wants snakes or sparklers. I think there should be designated firework areas near the lake or in the parks and then fine the violators heavily.

The whole west coast is dry. NOT a good season, is it? Prayers, indeed.

I should have said that I live in NW Provo, the fire is on the mountain is SE Provo. That said, it is a frightening looking fire, very spectacular to see at night, and sobering to realize just how bad it is...

I know I would break the law. NOBODY will stop me from shooting off fireworks on the 4th. I don't care what state I am in, I will find a secluded spot and do it.

Thanks. The fires can be hazardous to fight here because of the mountains. The mountains are very dangerous. Last year we would watch them fight the fires on the mountain from my office window. Quite interesting to see the helicopters dumping water on those fires, quite dangerous also.

No.  Just the Ruler of the Universe provoked, i.e., "really burned up" that a Judge ruled that the nation should not have "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.
