Are you aware of the many starving children in North and South Korea, among countless other Asian countries? Do you think they even care if meat is from a dog, cat, or cow over there, if they are STARVING?
Give me a break. They are starving, so they must eat dogs, cats, and endangered animals. That's the most foolish thing I've heard in a while. Maybe you're not aware of the fact that one acre of soybeans will produce 10 times as much protein as one acre of dog farm. If you insist on making excuses for other people's abberant behavior, at least make them feasible. North Korea and China have food shortages due to their governments' inability to utilize famland, not a shortage of pets to eat.
You only think it's weird because you were brought up to believe that way.
So I've heard...I hear that kind of logic alot when I compare my Western Christian values to Islam. But right is right and wrong is wrong and I'll continue to stick to my guns so to speak. God also put some animals on this earth to care for it and its human inhabitants. Its pure arrogance to think every one of God's creatures are here for our amusement and consumption.

In fact, I find it hypocritical that you are unwilling to address the fact that there are hundred of thousands of starving and orphaned children in Asian countries. I would put THEIR welfare over that of animals, or are you one of those people who put the welfare of animals over that of human beings?
THOUSANDS of children over there are STARVING and all you are doing on this thread is calling those who choose to eat dog meat, "lowlife." Okay, I would like to hear you say that to a starving child in the streets.

Yeah, I heard in China that they have served Tiger Bone Soup, as well as Tiger Penis Soup. Apparently, they claim that it has medicinal virtues, but in reality, they do not.

Cruelly slaughtered is an accurate description of what they do... As opposed to "humanely slaughtered. Again, have you read the ariticle? A lot of thought is given to slaughtering the dogs as cruelly as possible to make the meat even more desirable. These are city dogs and city people. Stop trying to compare them to starving refugees lost in the wilderness.

Is that a PETA ad? Do you really consider yourself to be a "Christian"? If you really do, you are a hypocrite. Anyone who would condone such atrocities, besides having a cold empty soul, is subhuman, nevermind "Christlike", which is what is meant by the term "Christian".
It's people like you that convince non-believers that many who proclaim themselves "Christians" are nothing more than self-righteous fools.

I would like you to post where I have said that this type of behavior is okay. You guys are taking a small trend and applying it as the norm in Asian countries.
Like I said before, why don't you guys just go over to the country and live there for a while, before you make ridiculous over generalized statements about a culture which you have no clue about.
What's more, I would like to see you guys deny dog meat to a starving orphan, just because the animal was killed in a cruel way. What's more important: Human life? Or animal life? You people have your priorities all mixed up.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
Why don't you go living in a generally poor country, experience the feeling of what starving is like, and then come back and lecture everyone else in here who is rational enough to understand that when one is STARVING, one also cannot be too choosy about what they eat. In your infinite wisdom you neglect to consider that it is not WHAT is being eaten, but HOW it is being tortured and killed.
You better pray REALLY hard tonight that there is no such thing as HELL, because if there is, you might just get to find out what it's like to experience what these little creatures experience.
To: FormerLurker
You seem more concerned about animal welfare than that of STARVING human children and perhaps you are.

What's more, I would like to see you guys deny dog meat to a starving orphan, just because the animal was killed in a cruel way. What's more important: Human life? Or animal life? You people have your priorities all mixed up. And you are putting up new straw men as fast as we knock them down... The article and the thread have not been about starving orphans.

Tel Aviv ain't bad either :)

Like I said before, this article is making ridiculous over-generalized statements about Asian culture. It is not morally wrong to eat dogs and cats, get over it.

Now, let me get this straight. You're living in the U.S right now, but you're framing your response in a we vs. U.S. argument. Judging from your response, it appears that you do not wish to be on the side of Americans. I see that your screen name appears Asian, so perhaps you're sticking up for the motherland and defending her against America. If you wanted to be an American, or if you have always been an American, why would you so vociferously come out against Americans.
By the way, western culture IS superior to eastern cultures.

I would like you to post where I have said that this type of behavior is okay. You guys are taking a small trend and applying it as the norm in Asian countries. A SMALL TREND? Have you bothered checking any of the links that I posted? Go back, read them, then tell me if you feel the way. Perhaps you're just ignorant, and if so, I may have been too harsh. BUT, on the other hand, you're simply being apologetic for these inhuman methods, then everything I've said applies.
Like I said before, why don't you guys just go over to the country and live there for a while, before you make ridiculous over generalized statements about a culture which you have no clue about.
Why don't YOU go take a look at the links and see for yourself what is GOING ON.
What's more, I would like to see you guys deny dog meat to a starving orphan, just because the animal was killed in a cruel way. What's more important: Human life? Or animal life? You people have your priorities all mixed up.
For one, these people aren't doing it to feed starving orphans. They're doing to give the West the proverbial finger, as they know MOST people in the West find these practices needless and cruel. AND SECONDLY, IF it were a matter of feeding starving children, there would STILL BE NO REASON FOR THE TORTURE AND THE CRUELITY. Wake up and smell the coffee MR. FJC.
To: 4Freedom
You know, if your society has repeated periods of starvation, that might make you a little less picky about what you eat.
To: HairOfTheDog
As far as I can see, horsemeat is okay. However, dog and cat is over the line.
To: FreedomFriend
"so perhaps you're sticking up for the motherland and defending her against America."Western culture is indeed superior to Eastern culture, but you are taking the issue of eating dog meat way too seriously. To the point that I thought you guys were joking around at first.
To: BJungNan
I guess I should have also mentioned the poor sportsmenship and anti-Americanism of the Korean soccer players, not to mention Korean crowd.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
And you don't think characterizing all the dog-eaters as starving orphans is over-generalizing asian culture?
It is not morally wrong to eat dogs and cats, get over it.
I disagree. I think it is morally wrong. And I have no intention of getting over it... I am completely content with my view. My world is much more pleasant than yours... Get over that.

St. Bernards have about the shortest lifespan of any domesticated dog. Usually only seven to ten years. Why would you want to cook one of those big guys?
To: FreedomFriend
"As far as I can see, horsemeat is okay. However, dog and cat is over the line"I am trying to figure out your logic. Why is it ethical to eat some animals and not others? It is not a cows, horses, or pigs fault that they aren't as intelligent as dogs and cats. Is that why you advocate eating these animals and not others?
Since the period of Adam's Fall, original sin, and the New Testament Covenant, all animals have been designated as fair game by God.
