I think everyone is jittery in New York about rebuilding the towers. But they know now how to build them so they would withstand anything. They can do it. I know underneath they want to use the space for other stuff I betcha money has alot to do with it. I would love for the towers to be rebuilt. But we just have to resign ourselves to the fact that the victim's families do not want them rebuilt. They are the ones who were cheering Pataki on. Seems everyone is listening to them ONLY!

If that's true I find their line of thinking hard to comprehend. Keep in mind though it was only 400 people. But you know how people get emotional and lose their common sense. How do you think we came to have 50,000 gun laws after all.

I am disappointed in them too. I thought they would be alot more defiant. I know I would be. All we can hope is that at least the memorial will be wonderful. They may put the two beams of light on as a permanant fixture.

The only way to honor the victims is to rebuild. A permanent site of sorrow and monument to 9/11 is a repulsive thought.

That I agree with. They should make it the tallest buildings in the world. They should do it carefully and take as much time as they need. GOD I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE NEW YORK SKYLINE AGAIN WITH THE TWO TOWERS. MY HEART BLEEDS EVERYTIME I LOOK AT THE SKYLINE.

The Pentagon is being rebuilt on that wing. What's the big deal with the WTC site? Weren't there 7 buildings there? Got to admit the exterior of the buildings were overly plain, so maybe they can come up with some style this time.

It was 2 towers each 110 stories tall on a 16 acre site with buildings grouped around a five acre central plaza which included two nine story Plaza Buildings which flanked the main entrance to the complex.

WRONG!, I say we turn the date of their attack and destruction, into one of the spirit of resurrection, renewal, strength, revitalization, rebirth. Lets turn their date of death, into one of resurgence.

My initial response was to rebuild the towers exactly as they were. I understand that they weren't profitable and now who in their right mind would lease space in what would be a really big target.

Well, we piss plenty of money away in this country and I'm sure the same holds true for NYC. Give the families a memorial and rebuild them exactly as they were. Lease out the lower levels and keep the upper levels closed.

As does mine. It is hard not to choke up or get real angry when I see the towers in a movie or photo. To not rebuild is a constant reminder of loss and temporary defeat. To see the towers again will remind me of the loss and our strength.

How can anyone be so blind as not to see that Al Qaeda wants that site to remain nothing. They want it to be nothing...forever. That's their masterplan.

I went to photography school in a similarly styled (but not quite so stylish) building a block or two away from there at 225 b'way. It's still standing, I've seen it in aerial photos of the disaster zone.
