Vanity: The Pledge of Allegiance is Unconstitutional - If That Doesn't Convince You What Will?

"Under God" is an accurate reference in a historic and cultural sense. The reference would remain accurate even if, for the sake of argument, God were only a fictional being with no more existence than Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.

Please take heart. Solomon once said [in Proverbs], Pride comes before a fall. Solomon was referring to arrogant pride. This is clearly it. The liberal courts messed up. I forsee the very outrage you are hoping for.

I would somehow think pride is a sin that both liberals and conservatives are guilty of here. I would just want to throw out the question, "Would Jesus say the Pledge of Allegiance?" Based on Matthew 5:33-37, I somehow do not think He would.

As a Christian raised in the Anabaptist tradition, I do not say the Pledge of Allegiance, nor would I "Swear to tell the whole truth" in a court of law. Jesus has given us guidance against ever saying pledges which, I would think, would include the Pledge of Allegiance.

Also, for all you Christians out there I would ask, "Where does your allegiance lie, with America or with Christ?" No man can serve two masters. I think if Christians in America are to be upset about something, it would be along the WorldCom/Enron/Whoeverisnext scandals, where it seems whole corporations were pledging allegiance to money over American values of honesty and integrity. These scandals threaten the moral fabric of America FAR more than this silly pledge issue.

But, since Conservatives have sold out Christian values to Capitalism, they wouldn't notice this either.

Don't try to defeat the DEM's with RINOs

Yeah. "Me too, but not as much!" is not a very inspiring campaign slogan, is it?

Liberalism must be crushed!

Actually, the frog has been hopping mad ever since the Clinton pardons.

If the frog is the American people, I would disagree.

Yes, most people besides the Clinton Kool-Aid drinkers were mad as hell about the pardons.

Dollars to donuts, ask anyone of them, man on the street type guy, what is your opinion of Clinton and you will get an answer that has something to do with Monica, which is the least of the many Clinton abuses of power.

Except for viligant, the last eight years of Clinton is water under the bridge for most Americans who are too absorbed watching their 401 (K) disappear.

This pledge issue will also pass under that bridge and the left moves on.

I hate to be a pessimist, but that's how I see it.

We need a new frog

I don't think that a blind, unquestioning "allegiance" is intended by the pledge. But rather a common sense intention to seek the country's good in a unity which is mustered under obedience to God -- like the Jews were bidden to do in their dispersion. Jesus Himself, from all biblical evidence, obeyed the law of "Caesar" even better than He obeyed the Pharisees whom He was continually at odds with.

But you are quite free to refrain from the pledge if you believe God forbids it, and you will incur at worst only some funny looks. That is one of the beauties of America.

This pledge thing is over the top...

From today's WJS editorial: "The suit was brought by a Sacramento crank, who recently lost a bid in federal court to stop President Bush from mentioning religion on public occasions."

This guy has way too much time -- and apparently money -- on his hands!

The dots connect this 401(K) vanishing act to those very eight years, which made promises which were beyond their power to keep.

“Yeah, and we know where Gore/Hillary/Daschle stand too. The choice is obvious.”

The choice is basically a Third World South by 2030 or maybe one by 2040 by voting for the Republicans. This thread is just the latest battle and the latest loss in the ongoing March of Political Correctness. The Republicans need to realize they will never win such a sissy fight by putting on the gloves of pandering which the Democrats will always beat them at.

Basically what is needed in the United States is the same kind of wakeup call Europe just got from Jean Marie Le Pen.

It is clear to me that the ultimate goal of the radical left is the destruction of America. In all of modern history, I cannot think of a single successful athiest-based nation.

However, I have to admit that these leftist-anarchists have demonstrated patience in their effort to subvert American culture. They knew it would take time to undermine our way of life so they focused on a handful of critical institutions to achieve their goals - education, media, judiciary, and academia. Ronald Reagan's "evil empire" is alive and well in these critical institutions and it is up to us to respond to this "wake up call" and expose their subversive agenda and remove these domestic terrorists from our nation.

If a Le Pen showed up in the USA, we would get a Democrat landslide in that race.

Yeah, almost forgot we are in a "new economy"

Clintons affirmative action for very, very short people (Robert Reeeeeeeeeich) told us that once.

Jimbo !!! STANDING AND APPLAUDING !!!!!!!!!!!!

My God, the whole damn country is run by hordes of mushy headed liberals and socialists

You left out "arrogant" but that's OK

The problem is the control freaks naturally gravitate to positions of power - no matter how small the power. And the victims work for them. The rest of us support them [ government is welfare]. We need to take their power away, once again.

The point to be made is that Le Pen shook things up and people like Fortuyn and Haider are continuing to shake things up in Europe as well. What is needed here is something similar, some kind of political earthquake.

I mean an independent Le Pen would be a spoiler. It would be very nice if a Le Pen showed up in the Republican Party in certain conservative districts. Kind of like Newt Gingrich but with immensely more integrity.

Even Sen. Robert Byrd said on the floor of the Senate, "What is this country coming to?, This country cannot be ruled by a bunch of atheists?...I'll say it right here, let them come and get me...and if the atheists don't like it, they can LEAVE...CSPAN has the entire ruling and more video...

This is a ruling that is being handed to "WE THE PEOPLE" as a challenge to US by the Court. The Sleeping Giant has been getting a little tired lately, since the flags of 9-11 are somewhat tattered and this is really the last straw...

GRRRRRollin for the USA!
