NBC spokeswoman Allison Gollust told The Post: "We find it ironic that while Coulter questions the credibility of Matt and Katie throughout her book, she has no problem asking them to promote the book on their show."

Allison, the dim-witted sheeple who comprise your audience buy books, too. Ann wants to sell her book to them. Understand?

And I find it stupid for Couric to let a guest promote a book that intelligently criticizes her and Lauer and the rest of their liberal media mafia.

Here's the good part. They don't have any choice. One way the "Toady Show" producers fill air time is by interviewing authors from major publishing houses. Couric is published by a major publishing house that wants to make money from her book, and they want the "Toady Show" to help them. They may even buy commercial time in one form or another. The "Toady Show" producers can't take a chance on blackballing a author from one of the majors. All they can do is ask Ann to play nice, and hope she does.

Registered should whip up a poster: "Coulter v. Couric: The Shock at 30 Rock" or something like that.

Wouldn't it be great if they agreed that if Coulter won the argumentinterview, she got to take the anchor job away from Katie?

"You don't really know anything about her,do you? She is fully capable of calling Katie a liar on air,and telling her to shut the hell up. "

There is no reason to bring Tom Daschle into this.

SP, I know what you mean. The last time I saw Katie cry was the night of the election - pre-chad, of course, when NBC called the election for Bush. Brokaw said something to Katie, and her long pause and air of barely disguised disgust was absolutely priceless. It warms my heart to this day.

As much as I hate it, I have to agree with you. NBC has far too much invested in the Perky One to have a guest grind her into hamburger and leave her a gasping heap of phlem smoldering on the floor of the studio on nationwide TV.

This is the perfect time for NBC to call in a pinch-hitter. Too bad.

I believe the term is Chutzpah.

Not, coincidentally the name of a book by another lawyer. I think I saw it remaindered once.

Ann Coulter and Kirin Chetry make it much harder to argue against cloning.

If all of you guys order up Ann Coulter clones, what are us regular babes going to do?

Oh wait, does that mean they would have Mel Gibson clones? Never mind.

Never happen. Katie reflects the political views of NBC management. Let's just hope Katie gets mad enough to challenge Ann to a "celeberty boxing" match.

Having seen both Couric and Coulter at their worst and best over the years, I think how the "match" will be judged will depend upon one's perspective. The problem Coulter has is that, despite the fact she is obviously bright, she is too brash, too direct, and completely without any ability to retrain her natural sarcasm. People here are underestimating Couric, who despite her liberal bias, is extremely bright and articulate. She will be very well prepared for Coulter. It's likely Coulter will end up sounding defensive and disrespectful. She gets very visibly nervous when challenged, and often ends up resorting to ad hominem attacks. So how will the battle be judged?
I have no doubt the regular Today show fans will see Coulter as a snide bi**h, and Couric as unfairly slandered. Those who hate Couric and revere Coulter will see Coulter holding her own and embarrassing Couric. So who will emerge a winner by consensus? Neither.
Personally, I can barely stomach listening to Couric, and I agree with much of Coulter's points, but personally, I think Coulter is an obnoxious b**ch.
