Sure the outside world has accepted Dalmatia is governed by Zagreb, but the Dalmatians are increasingly unhappy with the arangement.

Ordinary Dalmatians are sick and tired of their hard earned income being squandered on Zagreb's self serving projects.

Ordinary Dalmatians are tired of their once profitable tourist industr turned into a shambles by Zagreb's inept and corrupt sell off of Hotels to HDZ insiders.

Ordinary Dalmatians are sick and tired of being associated with the Herzogvac knuckle draggers in charge over in Zagreb.

Tro. keep on humming Our Lovely Homeland and repeating Za Dom Spreme ! and watching HTV......you'll continue to be totally unaware of what ordinary Croats and Dalmatians are thinking.

vis a vie dropping the A-Bombs on the Japs

There were plenty of alternatives to dropping the bomb(s) on undefended civilian centers. Here are a few

1) Drop one a few miles off the coast of Tokyo Harbour at say 20,000 ft, as a subtle demonstration.
2) Drop one on a full scale military target such as a large airbase or Navel Base.
3) Drop a bomb on a (nearly) uninhabited island, as another type of subtle demonstration

The argument you use "we had to drop the bomb(s) 'cuz it saved lives" simpl doesn't cut the mustard. The invasion canard is simply a red herring. In August 1945, the Japs were no longer a threat to US forces anywhere. Rather than a invasion, US forces could have continued their solid blockade of Japan and gone on with the air bombardment (against military targets).

Please recall that by August 1945, Japan was so incapable of serious fighting that American Battleships were able to come within a few miles of shore pretty much anywhere they pleased and fire off a few hundred 16 inch rounds. USAAF planes flew where and when they wanted. The Jap Airforce had effectively ceased to exist. The entire Japanese coastline had become one vast shooting gallery.

We could have done a 1945 version of Saddam Insane.....simply contain the bastards until they quit. Sure, it may have taken a while longer, but many more lives would have been saved, and the Anti-American crowd would not be able to yammer endlessly on the subject.

Most Americans believe it was a mistake and that there were better alternatives. Perhaps in Brighton Beach they refuse to admit their errors, but in the rest of 'merica, when we make a mistake we admit it and move on. It is one of those traits which makes people love us. Assimilate it

Riiiiiiiiight. You would be posting messages about the "starving" Japanese children, who starve because we are blockading Japan.

and the Anti-American crowd would not be able to yammer endlessly on the subject.

Reality check. The anti american crowd *is* yammering about our containment of Saddam. Saddam needs to be taken out ASAP. Containment won't do. Most Americans believe it was a mistake and that there were better alternatives.

Who made you the spokesman for most of the Americans?

Perhaps in Brighton Beach they refuse to admit their errors, but in the rest of 'merica, when we make a mistake we admit it and move on.

I don't follow. What made you bring up Brighton Beach, and exactly how familiar are you with it to categorize/generalize the people who live there?

No one would have complained about 'starving' Jap babies as long as the war was on. Blockades and Sieges are legitimate acts of warfare covered under USFM 27-10 and all the usual Geneva Conventions.

"Remarakbly stupid comment on the article which also quoted a bunch of well respected European newspapers who reported on it.

Here's your problem right here, there is no such thing as a well respected European newspaper. It's an oxymoron.

I sat right here and watched a Northern Alliance soldier, shooting over the wall into the prison, catch a bullet in the head 10 feet away from a camera man. The press was RIGHT there, there was no massacre. There was a battle between well armed Taliban and our troops fighting for control of the prison.

You may not like what's cooking in my kitchen, but at least I'm not cooking what your smokin, or what your trying to shovel here.=o)

MissAmericanPie,

I basically think we are correct and that our collegue Sandes is wrong.

For essentially the same thing occured at Srebrenica when 10,000 of Nasir Oric's Jihadists attempted a fighting retreat through the forests. The vastly outnumbered BSA was unable to annhilate Oric's 28th BiH division, but was able to inflict significant damage on the division such that it never saw action again.

A man's got to know his limitations, Sandnes.

I'm beyond yours.

And no, I don't want to hear your last words.

As far as I'm concerned, I already did.

They were prisoners of war and that is the difference. The revolt was used as an excuse for revenge. Simple as that!

That ridicilous! So we shouldn't have put the revolt and just let them walk, or let them shoot at our soldiers?? If I run up to you on the street and punch you in your face, and you punch me back.... According to you that means that you used my assault as an excuse to hit me!

instruments were dropped out of the Enola Gay with the bomb, different types of bombs were used on each city and scientific data was gathered in the aftermath.

Your point?

Well about the only positive articles you will get worldwide at the moment on the US is in the travel agencies.

Keep reading Guardian.

The third world is poor and overopulating at a great rate but they have TV's.

Whose fault is that? If a woman tries to have as many kids as possible even though she can't feed them because of the way her culture is set up.. whose fault is that? And if we come in and try to educate them and etc., you'll be the first one complaining about USA trying to dominate others and not having respect for their cultures.

So after they have wended their weary way home they sit around and watch TV shows like 'Clueless', where ignorant well dressed hunks and Bimbos, wreck BMW's, as they can't think of anything else to do.

Boo hoo. Hard working, educated and poorly dressed Third Worlders went their "weary way home" to watch ignorant, lazy, well dressed Americans on TV.. One would think that USA has BMW's and etc growing on trees and we just lay in the shade and leisurely get up now and then to take what we want.. Dude, seriously, stop smoking. If we are so lazy and the Third World is so smart and hard working, why are WE the ones sending them money? Why don't they teach us something for a change?
