I knew this was coming. Anyone who thinks the blacks and Hispanics are going to form some lasting alliance are crazy.

As they should be. Most of the hispanics in this country arrived *after* the civil rights movement of the 1960's. Why should they benefit from affirmative action when they weren't historically discriminated against by and large?

While the Bush administration's fervor for increased Mexican immigration and a massive amnesty for illegal aliens is well-known, the really poignant story is the betrayal of black Americans, in particular, and all poor Americans (including immigrants here legally) by their traditional political home, the Democratic Party.

Oh, but we Republicans can never tell the truth about how Democrat pandering on Illegals is particulary harmful to underclass blacks.... the media will call us bad names and say very mean things about us.

Pretending to try and out-pander the Democrats is our only hope.

I don't think he hits the most important point, perhaps, because it just isn't talked about. Whatever negative things you might say about Mexicans and Orientals, they hustle. They learn trades and how to get things done and when opportunity knocks, they are prepared to answer. Some/many/most blacks seem to believe that they are entitled and, since they are not, they get left behind. The black thugs teach them that society owes them for some past ill and so they wait while the illegals hustle. The kids of the illegals are, well, legal, but they have the same hustle, good English skills, some eduaction and, in 2 or 3 generations will achieve the same status in the US as did the Germans, Irish and Italians. The blacks continue to wait for the shakedown. The democrats screw the blacks at every turn but convince them that they work for them. The democraps lie. The immigrants see that and prepare for the future; the blacks don't and hopefully watch the past.

What our current policy will result in if we do not convince Neville Bush and his lame domestic policy advisers otherwise.

Undocumented immigrants and guest worker programs are needed in counties such as the US, or member nations of the European Union. The reason for this is that the traditional Anglo populations are aging and will continue to age. In order to financially support the programs, services, and care that wealthy Anglo populations are accustomed to, a large number of "service" jobs are needed, which are usually low-paying wage positions.

As borders erode and the world shrinks because of globalism, non-Anglo people will be in high demand in traditionally "Anglo areas" such as the USA. Also, because the most modern Anglo cultures promote female roles heavily in the business world, there is a stress on the Anglo birth-rate. Between the massive use of birth-control in Anglo nations, and the role of women in business (forced to postpone or cancel plans for a family) there are simply more and more "non-Anglos" than Anglos in places like the US, who are willing to accept the jobs needed to continue the current situation: elderly are put in warehouse-style nursing homes (staffed by non-Anglos), groceries are incredibly cheap (non-Anglos again) and goods are bought cheaper from WTO and NAFTA-related trade via Wal-Marts (non-Anglo again). The battle is not at the border. It is in the bedroom. Hispanics will become a majority in Texas, for example, in 2005 or before. That is Pres GW Bush's home state. Immigration is something that touches the nerves of those who long for a time that has now passed. But in today's views, with leaders embracing the idea of lowering borders, and global trade, and unity and justice for all the world's people... uncontrolled immigration will continue. If America adopted a "Zero-growth" and "Zero-immigration" stance, its standard of living would collapse in one generation. The new order of the world is such that national borders are being re-examined and considered less important. The idea of a "nation-state" is perhaps as outdated as the telegraph or horse-and-buggy. Time will tell.

Actually, unlike Europe the US population is increasing, even without the immigrant influx and their offspring.

Ark: both the EU and USA will see a rise in the percent of -non-Anglo- households, labor force and general population. So the general up-down direction of the population (which you cite) is missing the point of my post. Besides, it would be dangerous to merely shoot hoops with me re hard numbers... it's beyond that time in the discussion. The train left the station.

The reason for this is that the traditional Anglo populations are aging and will continue to age.

Maybe we should start asking ourselves why "anglos" aren't reproducing.

BTW the only people I hear using the term "anglo" are diversity studies type academics.

If the purpose of immigration was to enhance the quality of life in the U.S. it would be a very weak case, wouldn't it?

Immigration advocates don't make that case directly. They extol this benefit or that, and imply or state to not think likewise is to be a racist or "nativist".

The real purpose of immigration is for the political class to have unthinking sheeplike voters that need a lot of government, and for business to have cheap, slave labor.

If it makes life difficult for poor Americans, neither the political class nor business particularly care.

Skeeter- I think you are posing a great question for many of the readers here. Why aren't Anglos reproducing at the same rate as their fellow residents? Of course, in the earlier part of the 1900s, many Americans feared that "birth control" and the women's lib movement were plots to weaken their nation. This was of course discredited as over-reactive scare tactics and garden-variety hogwash. Still, this article poses an interesting theory... that one non-Anglo group in America and another non-Anglo group in America view globalism differently. Either way, the bordes must stay open to fulfill America's contract with NAFTA. Instead of shutting down this operation, the opposite is planned, with NAFTA to be expanded to the bottom of South America in time.

Things started falling apart wrt social services and immigration at around the time of the 'Great Society'. That's when Lefty programs started to be stacked on each other as Democrat Party spoils without consideration of their ultimate aggregate effects, along with the mass imbibement of 'revolutionary' and identity politics.

Now the problems with these unreviewed programs have become so universal and blatantly obvious that everybody sees at least some of them and is complaining, but no politician wants to touch these multiple social handout third rails because some special interest group or other will launch scorched earth attacks on whomover attempts to. People need to think of American society as a whole, not just their own back yard on these things.

Some of what you say is true. The blacks do not have the drive and are so dependent on the government.

Many of these immigrants do work, however, they also take advantage of each and every handout that is available in this country and that is a lot. They can work without paying taxes and still get benefits. Blacks, who are citizens, like us, cannot do this. In order to get benefits, citizens must have valid identification and show tax forms. They also just ignore our laws. They take no responsibility for themselves regarding health care, insurance, etc. They know if they break the law, chances are nothing will be done, and at the most, they will be sent home and will make it back to their families in a day.

There is no defense for these people and what is being done to this country by them and by the politicians - all politicians. Even the democrats have not been as blatant about their encouragement of this attack on this country, our culture and our pocketbooks, as our own republican President.

They do not add to this country. They could not - they pay no taxes, they send a lot of money back to Mexico, they use the healthcare system,t he food stamps, they overburden the education system and the law enforcement systems. They just do not add anything to the country. They add to the bottom line of greedy corporations and therefore, increase contribution to greedy politicians.

I do not know what the growth rate of this country was last year, maybe someone can tell me - but Mexico's growth rate was 7% and is projected to be that for the next three years. How much of that is your money?

Many people think it is fine to take the jobs of the poor or minimum wage earners, because you feel confident you or yours will never be in that position and I hope you never are. But if, as some say, they are hustlers (literally), and get government loans and grants, how long before they are the middle class and we or our children are the minimum wagers, because we have to achieve based on our work and ability, not government handouts and handups.

"immigrants replenished an aging work force"

Standard line, not really that true. The purpose of massive illegal immigration is to suppress the market - the American workers' market for the price of their labor. It effects the lower strata the most, whatever the ethnicity. It's about temporary profit increases for some, no help for anyone else. Our lives did not get better with this industry/guilt liberal scheme.
