Bottom line:

Won't save you, should the government decide it wants to make an example of you. The authority to tax individuals under Article I section 8, clause 1 of the constitution does not predicated on a social security number or the social security system in any way.

Operating off-the-books and in cash is just a way of hiding your transactions, it leaves you in immediate legal jeopardy of the provisions of the income tax law, and provides no protection in the courts once government becomes aware of you and chooses to go after you.

Howdy, ancient_geezer, et al:

Last May 9th, Herman Cain made a presentation to the House Ways & Means Sub-Committee on Taxation. He advocated for the FairTax (HR 2525) and, IMHO, he did a superb job.

I obtained a Transcript of his presentation and put it on a website. GoTo: Herman Cain Presentation!

Americans For Fair Taxation (AFFT), the grassroots organization of volunteers who support the FairTax for tax reform have just appointed Herman Cain as Chairman of their newly created Tax Leadership Council (TLC).

In that capacity, Cain will take the FairTax message all across America via speaking at various functions and to a variety of groups. He will encourage and promote the groundswell of activity by citizens that is growing in support of the FairTax.

If you get a chance to hear him, I urge you to do so. He has a way of grabbing and holding an audience's attention. He's noted for his "tell it like it is" style of speaking.

As Herman Cain says, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired of the Income Tax Code. It's gotta go!"

There's a renewed vigor now showing itself in favor of 'real' tax reform. For example, a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Georgia is running on the basis of support for H.R. 2525, the FairTax. Bob Irvin vows that, if elected, he will introduce a FairTax Bill in the Senate like H.R. 2525 in the House.

Wanna help? Visit here: FairTax Petition ...and sign-on. Send your family and friends to sign the Petition, too.

Hi all:

Math lesson for the day! :-)

If two folks signed the PETITION (below) today, and they EACH got two more to sign tomorrow and they EACH got two more to sign the next day, etc., etc. for 25 days straight, how many signatures would be on the Petition at the end of the 25th day? See Link below labeled POWER OF TWO! for the answer.

WOW! Impossible, you say? Keep in mind that no person has to perform a Herculean task... nobody has to get more than two others to sign! IOW, bring two and you're through!

Next question! If a Petition with that many signatures calling for Congress to enact H.R. 2525, The Fair Tax, were presented to the candidates say, in early October 2002, would they be persuaded to commit their support for the FairTax to r-e-p-l-a-c-e the Income Tax System (and IRS)?

All 435 members of the House are up for election and 1/3 of the Senate. Suppose they are told, "Every voter on that Petition says that you must commit NOW to support the FairTax when it comes up for a vote in 2003, or they won't vote for you on November 5, 2002!"

Do you think they'll get the message? It's been 26 years since President-elect Jimmy Carter said, "Our Income Tax System is a disgrace to the human race!" The D.C. politicians have had plenty of time to fix it. They haven't, so we will!

If you want to get "up-to-snuff" on the proposed FairTax bill, here's a place to do it. It presents the FairTax in "layman's language"... FairTax Facts!

P.S. Here's the PETITION! . . . and the . . . POWER OF TWO!

Thanks, BillofRights, for signing the FairTax Petition. I hope others will sign it, too.

Here again is the PETITION! which calls for enactment of the FairTax.

And, here's FairTax Facts! ...a website which presents H.R. 2525, The FairTax bill, in easy-to-read "layman's language."
