Thanks much for the invite - I've never been to your part of the world.
It sounds most interesting.

Boy, your Copper River Salmon price is out of sight...I have bought Copper River Salmon twice in the last few weeks...both times it was $5.99lb...I bought enough for us to enjoy it fresh, and then bought extra and froze it...it sure is good

But I am glad that you have other salmon at a more reasonable price...my fave is the Copper River, but its a short season for that, and we go back to buying whatever salmon they do have...we just love salmon at our house, and eat it, once sometimes twice a week...

I'm still mulling it over. If I go, I'd like to drive, just to have a little R&R.

There is Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma

i played catch the pebble with a beluga whale for a whole afternoon at Point Defiance Zoo!

...and the Government Locks in Seattle are a wonderful place to watch the fish ladders and drawbridge.

i rowed a kayak to Vashon Island from Shorewood Drive while i was there. whew. wonderful memories.
i would give you my truck for a basket of Ivar's deep fried salmon sticks right now.

The Oregon coast drive down 101 from Astoria to Brookings has to be the most beautiful drive in America. You get to see every type of coastal scenery from sheer drop offs to the ocean at the same level your vehicle is on.

I recommend that people drive it going south. That way it is safer as you are on the right side to pull over to take pictures. It is an 8 roll of pictures trip. You need 3-4 nights and days to drive and relax and enjoy it.

The most dramatic and beautiful coastal part is from Port Orford south to Brookings. The section between Gold Beach and Brookings is probably the most beautiful coastal area in the world. There are about 30 vistas and stops along this 40 mile slice of heaven on earth. On a clear day the views can be 20 miles to the north and 20 miles to the south. The best place for sunsets is Harris Beach, just north of Brookings. People across the states and parts of the free world know about the sunsets there.

For the Oregon coast, we love the month of September after Labor day and up to about the 2nd week in October. Usually it is still dry, the weather is great, the skies are clear and the sunsets incredible. Then, some really big salmon and some hot steelhead are in the Rogue and starting into the Chetco. The rates for inns and motels usually drop a lot in September after labor day, and the good people seem to be even more glad to see you in their restaurants and great stores.

This is my favorite freepathon doggie picture. She (or he) has the same look in the eyes that my dog, Beauty has. However, my dog, upon seeing a camera, immediately changes her demeanor and looks like just another canine goof-up.

If I showed up on Jim Rob's door step in my bikini, he would be justified in whatever he did to remove me from his door step.
