Bush must have won California in 2000. Otherwise, you would not be posting here.
Hey Lazamatez - I previously posted to you, that I've gone BAD, Tuco-bad, and that's why I'm posting again.

Ah, up to your old tricks, I see...changing the subject.
Ashcroft received specific PERSONAL threats, no doubt due to the calumny that was heaped upon him during the confirmation hearings.

Sure, it is hypothetically possible that we sat on our hands. It is also possible that the plane was flying over a heavily populated area and we debated shooting the plane out of the sky, knowingly killing all passengers and innocent people on the ground. 26 minutes isn't much time to develop "policy" on this kind of thing. Yet we scrambled F-16s out of Otis A..F.B. to take down Flight 11.
Hmmm.

Hey LazamatezI didn't realize Laz was Hispanic.
To: smith288
I believe he got specific threats against him, so he was getting higher than normal protection. Not unusual in govt. Not unusual to get specific threrats, unusual to fly military while on vacation (never heard of this prior to Ashcroft).

In that case it may even have happened but we will never know unless an F16 pilot decides to write a book in his old age.

Better question -- if the Bush administration knew about the threat, why was the U.S. Solicitor General's wife on board flight 77?
Just a few people in the Cabinet (perhaps only Ashcroft) knew of the threat.
(The FBI answers to the Justice Dept. which Ashcroft heads.)

When did I ever defend Bill or Hillary? I do believe veteran Freepers know exactly how much truth lies in this statement
Statement? Is there a grammar lesson needed here?

Yet we didn't did we?
To: Tuco-bad
F-16s out of Andrews A.F.B. There were none on alert that could be scrambled. According to the news reports.

The authorities knew prior to the first plane hitting the WTC, that the plane was hijacked.Yes, they did know that the plane had been hijacked. However, they did not know that the hijackers intended to ram the plane into a building. Pre 9/11, hijacking did not equal intentional destruction and mass murder.

Try not to be so semantical.
To: Tuco-bad
Yet we scrambled F-16s out of Otis A..F.B. to take down Flight 11. By the way, Otis is an Air National Guard Base (ANGB)(not A.F.B.) and it looks like they fly F-15s.

So on vacation he is not due military protection? That makes sense. </ sarcasm>
And what personal vendetta does Bush have against the Olsens to put Ted through what he has been put through for not telling Barbara about the pending attack?
Democratic Underground screaming through your posts.

Try not to be so semanticalDo you mean pedantic, perhaps? A question is NOT a statement even though it can be framed around a statement and that one was not so framed. There is no truth or falsity in a question. One can fault the assumptions presumed to lie behind a given question but the question is neither true nor false.
