Plants and bacteria are also alive. Insects are sensate beings

Don't foget about "viral rights". :)

Since when does a six-week-old frying chicken have more rights than a thousand year old sequoia? Of course, liberals would pick and choose how many rights a plant has. A potato has fewer rights than a tree, for example.

All of this prattle does is illustrate the corrupt thought processes of liberalism. "Rights" become claims on someone else, by the liberal's definition. They see no corresponding duty to go along with those rights. Where are the "animal duties" that accompany those "rights"?

I believe in treating higher animals with kindness, because cruelty to animals is bad for the human soul. For the lower animals, I'm not so constrained, although they still deserve painless destruction. Rats and pigeons are only useful as targets.

Cruelty to animals is bad for people, which is why it must be opposed. Anyone low enough to hurt an animal is likely to "graduate" to hurting people. That's why I will defend the animals in my life as vigorously as anyone else in my family. We've "adopted" each other, and the loyalty flows in both directions. I can't say as much for the piece of steak I'll have tonight, or the cow it came from.

Totally agreed and I will go father in stating it is good for a person to harvest his/her own meal. It teaches respect for the food we eat be it vegtable or animal.

"The thought of two thousand people munching celery at the same time horrified me." - George Bernard Shaw, Explaining why had turned down an invitation to a vegetarian gala dinner.

Psy ... this group of quotes slipped through the cracks on ya', eh? LOL &;-)

Actually - I think it would be more accurate to say they slipped off my plate. Besides, I'm quite sure that my ancestors DID NOT struggle to the top of the food chain just so I could eat celery - unless its in the Bloody Mary I like to have while dining on Steak and Eggs!

The quotes will be duly cataloged for later use against the sin of vegetarianism. Thanks for the ping.

Give your pups a hug for me,

The optimum human population of earth is zero. -Dave Foreman, Earth First!

The human race could go extinct and I for one would not shed any tears. -Dave Foreman, Earth First!

Humanity is the cancer of nature. -Dave Foreman, Earth First!

Ok, so, since you are human, start by at least killing yourself. As a part of humanity that you so dispise, you owe it to yourself to die. Otherwise, I guess you're just a loud-mouthed hypocrate who really wants OTHER people to die in order to leave more resources for yourself.

We're waiting.... Are you still alive, Mr. Foreman?
