I think the resistance to flouride is visceral rather than logical. Hogwash. The case FOR fluoride is what is visceral. You can do more to prevent dental caries by consuming extra calcium as a child than by fluoridating water. The benefits of calcium to lifelong bone density are also substantial.

"Jack... Jack, listen, tell me, ah... when did you first become, well, develop this theory."
"Well, I ah, I, I first became aware of it, Mandrake, during the physical act of love. Yes, a profound sense of fatigue, a feeling of emptiness followed. Luckily I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence."

If I recall correctly, certain areas in Texas or Oklahoma.
Then how come so many Okies are missin' their teeth?

Yeah, but aren't you most angry about the thinking behind the fluoridation of water, and how that thinking can be applied to many other areas of individuals' lifestyles and personal choices (and one day soon may be)? Isn't that what really bothers you about it -- the principle -- that it is forcing you and others to consume a substance (whether you approve or not) rather than simply providing the information and allowing you to decide for yourself?
If that's not what bothers you most about it, why not?

The real purpose of fluoride? "Expire when you retire".
I read a study where 100 baby chicks were fed a diet that included fluoridated water, and another 100 baby chicks were fed the exact same diet, except their water was unfluoridated.
At the end of the study, all 100 of the adult chickens in the non-fluoridated group were alive, and autopsies revealed zero heart disease.
In the fluoridated group, at the end of the study, over half of the 100 adult chickens were dead of heart disease, and the other half, upon performance of autopsies, revealed progressive, degenerative heart disease.
Dead chickens don't collect Social Security.
