It is BLATANTLY obvious this country, or it's so called leaders, are NOT willing to do what is necessary.

*sigh*

Let's just assume for the sake of argument that you are correct. Please provide a numbered list of what you would do if you were the President of the United States. Then, we can all debate the merit of each suggestion by examining the plausible short-term and long-term consequences.

I agree but what needs to be done is not what is going to be done. We can all thank the PC movement for that.

******All I can say is thank God George Bush is in charge instead of Bill Clinton and instead of you*******

Well, I hardly think I am qualified ...... but the first part of your statement is a non sequitar. It's non sensical. It has no bearing whatsoever on the presidency of George Bush and his present behaviour. You might as well say, "wow, I'm dying of multiple scleroscis but dang, sure glad I don't have cancer!

If they try another attack on US soil, even much smaller than the 4 million--like another 4,000--and especially thousands of children, GWB and the government will be forced by the citizenry to respond deliberately and severely. Islamic terrorists are trying to start a global type war, in hopes their numbers will join them in the Big Battle

this is the same thing the poor little skinny kid after a beating from the local bully always says as he runs home crying ,

"you better not do that again! or else!"

once was too much, twice and I am having my doubts if america will even show up for school the next day

Oh....well, certainly if a country was found to be supplying the weapons used against us, we would be justified in going after the entire country. And I think if they kill 4 million, Bush would be willing to go do that if he could find a sponsoring state. Right now, his doctrine that states that support terrorists are just as bad is just that...doctrine. However, I have no doubt that if there is another massive attack and we can trace it back to a country, it won't just be a doctrine, it will be war.

Schools? Supposedly in Brookline MA some ME men went to some schools saying they wanted to send their children there, wanted tours of the schools and asked for floor plans.

We must all pray!!!

A good thing to do in any case...

July 4th might be a very dangerous time in America!

It might be, but somehow I don't think so. I despise the terrorists and their supporters as much as anyone, but that doesn't mean I don't think them to be clever. They are. And when does a clever terrorist strike? When the target isn't expecting it.

Right now, we're all jittery. We're getting danger reports of various hue about nearly every aspect of our lives...subways, shopping malls, ships, small planes, bridges, dams, and what-have-you. I have a nasty suspicion that we're being fed a bunch of fake stories that will consume our time, effort, and attention. And in the meantime, the terrorists are planning something nasty.

And just what will that nasty surprise be? That's the big question, after all. We can't know the answer, but it seems likely that we can determine the general pattern from the 911 incident. First, they won't spend much money on it - they'll try to use our own stuff against us. It will probably target civilians. It will probably be simple...brutal, yes, but fundamentally simple. The cells will probably be small (5 or fewer) and only one or two of the terrorists will know the whole story.

For this reason, I'm not too worried about a radiological weapon, or (for that matter) even a biological one. Both violate the simplicity principle. I wouldn't expect an airplane attack again, because we're looking for that.

No, I think that I would worry more about an ancient tanker (financed with loans from a US bank, perhaps. Or leased from a US company) loaded down with ANFO coming into port...especially a port with lots of chemical plants, refineries, or a nuclear power plant. I think if I were connected with Homeland Security, I'd stay up late nights worrying about that one.

I am not sure if that will happen after the next attack...but if there is a third it probably will almost certainly then. While America is more PC than during WWII, there is only so much before survival necessities kick in and PC is gone.

We shall be reduced to a second rate Europe in a few years. No longer the land of opportunity. Just another powerless member of the ineffectual West. Drowned in its own political correctness. Reduced to a shadow of it's former self.

Please, get a grip on the hyperbole. This article is just more Arab blustering, something they do quite readily and with great emotion. So what? I recall the Taliban leaders on Arab TV claiming that Afghanistan would be 'America's graveyard'. Five weeks later, the Taliban were hiding in caves and running for the border. Talk is easy but military might is deadly and we have the military might to destroy all of the tin-pot mid-east dictatorships, should we need to. We won't. A few selected countries will do the job as even Muslim fanatics recognize that all the bluster is meaningless whn the bombs are falling on your house.

America is the richest, freest and most militarily powerful nation on the face of the earth. Some Muslim fanatics with powerful weapons and a death wish are not going to defeat us, although they certainly can harm us.
We cannot deport every Arab or make every single structure bomb-proof and our very freedom gives the terrorists some advantage in their attack plans. That's understood and won't change.

Bush is not Clinton, try as some do to portray him that way when he doesn't start threatening to nuke anyone who threatens us. The president and the administration are very well aware of the threat to our nation, they are acting on those threats and Bush has warned (in his recent West Point speech) of U.S. premptive strikes against our enemies, and we know who they are.

Talk of the Muslims turning America into a third-world country is rubbish and just overheated anti-Bush hyperbole, as empty (and useless) as some of the terrorist threats. Criticism of the president is valid, 'giving up' on him is certainly your perogative and if you wish to play Chicken Little, be our guest, but don't expect serious attention when you make hysterical claims and accusations against the president and attempt to make the Muslim terrorists 10 feet tall. They are not, but America is and an American citizenry that is roused and angry - which another attack guarantees - will not be cowed, threatened or intimidated, much less defeated. Count on it.

And if they succeed...does anyone suppose that we would finally deal with the moslems of the world as they need to be dealt with? I suppose I shouldn't hold my breath.

If they suceed on a grand scale, they will lose big time. The more they are successful, the more they lose. This is a losers game by a loser civilization. Don't count on the Administration to respond rationally to a non-convential threat. It will be "round up the usual suspects" time. No need to look for a smoking gun.

The only way we will defeat the Islamists is to make this type of behavior to costly for those who like to live.

Brute force is all they understand.

Do you honestly think that a deliberate killing of 1 million kids will leave Americans sitting on their couches? There is only so much that a people can take.....no matter how PC they are, before the need for survival takes over.

The Savage is right, we need to tell the snake heads that any WMD attack on us means a long list of Arab cities become mirrors. The west will be gutted and bled by asymetric warfare if we don't. Let's make a dream list; Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, Bagdad, Aden, Damascus, Cairo, and Tripoli for starters.

That was a very nice summary of my opinions on this matter as well. It's certainly not a good idea to underestimate your enemy, but it's equally (if not more) damaging to make them into supermen. I personally believe that our President knows this and is handling it in the best way possible considering the situation. We *don't* want to cower in holes and develop nervous tics just because some islamist freak threatens us with something every few days/weeks. We need to keep a level head to deal with this effectively.

9-11 was pretty close to a small nuclear attack, about 1/3 the power of Horoshima and that got us pretty riled. The word has to go out to so-called moderate Arab states that they need to round up more than the "usual" suspects or else WE WILL hold them accountable. State sponsored hatred of the US emanating from Saudia Arabian schools will have to end or WE WILL hold them accountable. Unfortunately for the ARAB world, if they don't act soon, and if something more terrible happens on US soil, any President who fails to to act in defending OUR way of life will be removed from office. The outcry will be so overwhelming that the US would be forced to end the conflict once-and-for-all, unfortunately at the expense of many innocents. BUT THERE WILL BE NO CHOICE.
