*sigh*
Let's just assume for the sake of argument that you are correct. Please provide a numbered list of what you would do if you were the President of the United States. Then, we can all debate the merit of each suggestion by examining the plausible short-term and long-term consequences.
Well, I hardly think I am qualified ...... but the first part of your statement is a non sequitar. It's non sensical. It has no bearing whatsoever on the presidency of George Bush and his present behaviour. You might as well say, "wow, I'm dying of multiple scleroscis but dang, sure glad I don't have cancer!
this is the same thing the poor little skinny kid after a beating from the local bully always says as he runs home crying ,
"you better not do that again! or else!"
once was too much, twice and I am having my doubts if america will even show up for school the next day
A good thing to do in any case...
July 4th might be a very dangerous time in America!
It might be, but somehow I don't think so. I despise the terrorists and their supporters as much as anyone, but that doesn't mean I don't think them to be clever. They are. And when does a clever terrorist strike? When the target isn't expecting it.
Right now, we're all jittery. We're getting danger reports of various hue about nearly every aspect of our lives...subways, shopping malls, ships, small planes, bridges, dams, and what-have-you. I have a nasty suspicion that we're being fed a bunch of fake stories that will consume our time, effort, and attention. And in the meantime, the terrorists are planning something nasty.
And just what will that nasty surprise be? That's the big question, after all. We can't know the answer, but it seems likely that we can determine the general pattern from the 911 incident. First, they won't spend much money on it - they'll try to use our own stuff against us. It will probably target civilians. It will probably be simple...brutal, yes, but fundamentally simple. The cells will probably be small (5 or fewer) and only one or two of the terrorists will know the whole story.
For this reason, I'm not too worried about a radiological weapon, or (for that matter) even a biological one. Both violate the simplicity principle. I wouldn't expect an airplane attack again, because we're looking for that.
No, I think that I would worry more about an ancient tanker (financed with loans from a US bank, perhaps. Or leased from a US company) loaded down with ANFO coming into port...especially a port with lots of chemical plants, refineries, or a nuclear power plant. I think if I were connected with Homeland Security, I'd stay up late nights worrying about that one.
Please, get a grip on the hyperbole. This article is just more Arab blustering, something they do quite readily and with great emotion. So what? I recall the Taliban leaders on Arab TV claiming that Afghanistan would be 'America's graveyard'. Five weeks later, the Taliban were hiding in caves and running for the border. Talk is easy but military might is deadly and we have the military might to destroy all of the tin-pot mid-east dictatorships, should we need to. We won't. A few selected countries will do the job as even Muslim fanatics recognize that all the bluster is meaningless whn the bombs are falling on your house.
America is the richest, freest and most militarily powerful nation on the face of the earth. Some Muslim fanatics with powerful weapons and a death wish are not going to defeat us, although they certainly can harm us.
We cannot deport every Arab or make every single structure bomb-proof and our very freedom gives the terrorists some advantage in their attack plans. That's understood and won't change.
Bush is not Clinton, try as some do to portray him that way when he doesn't start threatening to nuke anyone who threatens us. The president and the administration are very well aware of the threat to our nation, they are acting on those threats and Bush has warned (in his recent West Point speech) of U.S. premptive strikes against our enemies, and we know who they are.
Talk of the Muslims turning America into a third-world country is rubbish and just overheated anti-Bush hyperbole, as empty (and useless) as some of the terrorist threats. Criticism of the president is valid, 'giving up' on him is certainly your perogative and if you wish to play Chicken Little, be our guest, but don't expect serious attention when you make hysterical claims and accusations against the president and attempt to make the Muslim terrorists 10 feet tall. They are not, but America is and an American citizenry that is roused and angry - which another attack guarantees - will not be cowed, threatened or intimidated, much less defeated. Count on it.
If they suceed on a grand scale, they will lose big time. The more they are successful, the more they lose. This is a losers game by a loser civilization. Don't count on the Administration to respond rationally to a non-convential threat. It will be "round up the usual suspects" time. No need to look for a smoking gun.
The only way we will defeat the Islamists is to make this type of behavior to costly for those who like to live.
Brute force is all they understand.
But definitely not this model:
Can you say BYE BYE PALESTINIANS AND MUSLIMS????? That would be our next response And if the Muslims in America were SMART.... They would realize this and and START PACKIN!!!!The immediate response would be an INSTANEOUS FORMATION OF VIGILANTE SQUADS THROUGHOUT AMERICA.....LYNCH MOBS would roam the STREETS HUNTING ALL ARABS AND PALIS!!!!Mosques would be IMMEDIATELY TARGETEDand MUSLIM CLERIC SHOT ON THE SPOT!!!!!
Next I see the destruction of MECCA and MEDINA within the WEEK at the MOST!!!!!and this is just for START!!!!!
